year ended 31 Mar¢h 2021.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordan¢¢ with the a¢¢ounting policies Set out in the notes to the financial
statcmcnts and COTnply with the charity's current statutory TequiTements, the ChaTities Act 2011 and 'Accounting and
Rcporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicablc to charitie5 preparing their accounts in
accordance with tbe Fit)ancial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republic of ITeland {FRS 102). las amended
for accounting periods commencing from l January 2016).

Objeetive5 and #ctivitie5
In accordance with the charit￿S objectives set out in the constitution of the charity, the chaTity has the following aims.
l. To advance the Sanalan Dharma (Hindu i¢ligion) in accordance with teachings and principle5 of the Shree
Swaminarayan, follttded atjd ordained by Lord Shree Sahajanand Swami.
2. The Cha[1t￿$ main objective forthe year continues to be that of providing a spiritual place of worship for devtstees and
the wider commullity, to piactice and adhere to the Swaminarayan (Hindu) faith, to observe all the regular festiva]s and
cultutal activities coupled with a place to extend voluntary service Iseval.
J. The strategy to achieve these objective5 include the provision of a safe place of worship, including separate Temple
halls for both males and feThale5. 5ub5tantial open grounds, halls and buildings and Tccrcational faeiliiies for all ages to
participate in, integrate as a Gon]munity and to instill humble, moral, peacefvl and religrious values. Each year, th¢ trustees
review our objectives to ensuie that they continue to reflect our aims and in planning its activities for the year.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Publi¢ benefit $t#tement
The charity is a public benefit entity.
The trllstees have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the 2011 ChaTities Act to have due regard to guidance published
by the Charity Commission, including public benefit guidanc¢. The charity has achieved its primary public bcncfit
objectives by ¢oniinuing to meei the spiritual requirements of the congregation and the wider comtnunity. This was
achieved by holding all daily aarti, Ihaals, Frf)ojans. katha and Nitya Niyams coupled with celebrating with grand fashion
a]1 key festivals. The Temple has cottlinued lo an incTease in thc numbcr of pcople coming for darshan and at key festivals
and therefore temain5 all attractive place for those wanting to follow the faith of Lord Swaminarayan.
The congregation welfare needs were also met with the vatious progtarns and activities.
Ollr Samprady
Bhagwaii ShTee SwaTninarayan was born in the Koshal re￿on of India, in a Yillage called Chhapaiya Ine2r Ayodhya, UP).
Having Served His parents until their demise. the Almighty took to a pilgrimage of India, adopting th¢ life of a nomadic
hermit.
On cotnpletion of the 7 years, sojourn of India, the Loid met up with Ramanand Swami. alld established tbe purest and
unadulieraled fomi of religion, based on ulttmate devotion to God only, with total observance of non-violent dharma.
Shrecji Maharaj r¢-Introdu¢ed the non-violent yagnas, on a grand scale. He inslTUCted numerous acts of social welfare;
alms-houses, dig8in8 of Village we115 1 lakts. explained in detail why it is important io worship Satvi¢ deities. Shreeji
M2haraj discredited the act of enforced Sati & female infanticide.
After the passing of Shree Ramanand Swami, Sbreeji Maharaj held a large gathering of the followers at the town of
Faneni. 11 was during this sabha, whilst explainill8 that God 15 one, He is Narayan, He is our Swami. Shreeji Maharaj
intToduced Yhe fath¢r of all M3nttas', Swaminarayan. The name refers wholly & solely to Bhagwan PU￿ShottaM Narayan
(Shree Swaminarayan Bhagwan).
He established temples at., Ahmedabad. Bhuj. Mu]i, Vadtal. Junagadh. Dholer< Dholkl Gadhpur and Jetalpur installing
images of various manifestations of God, such a5 NaT Natayan Dev, Laxmi Narayatl Dev, Radha KTishna. Radha Raman,
ReTrli Baldevji, etc. Shreeji Maharaj made Gadhpur Hi5 home, in recognition of the exceptional devoted love from Dada
Khachar.
In Vadtaj. on Prdbodhini Ekadashi of Vikram Samvat 1882. after due deliberation Shreeji Maharaj a<iopted His nephews
Ayodhyaprasadji Pande and Raghuveetii Pallde as His sons. Establishing the two Gadis i.e. NarNarayan Dev Gadi at
Ahmedabad and L&xmiNarayan Dev Gadi at Vadtal. Shteeji MahaTaj in51Tuded the two bTOtheTS lo dtaw lots, to de¢ide
who would be seated on which Gadi. Shreeji Maharaj then instructed all the followers present to do poojan of their
respective Acharyas. AyodhyapTasadji Maharaj was appointed the inaugural Acharya of the NarNarayan Dev Gadi (also
knowm a5 the Uttar Vibhag - NortheTh division), whilsi Raghuveerli Maharaj became the inaugural Acharya of the
LaxmiNarayan Dev Gadi (also known as the Dakshin Vibhag- Southern division).
This legal document (known as Desh Vibhagno Lekhl, which He dictated and got written by Shukalland Swami. Learned
saints and elder 5atsangis witne55ed this document. Copies wcrc prcscnted lo Ayodhy2prasadji Maharaj & Ra8huveerii
Maharaj -these are currently in the poss¢.Ision of the current Acharyas.
Shreeji Maharaj appointed Shree Raghuvcfflii Maharaj to the Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi at Vadtal, and Shree
Ayodhyaprasadji Maharaj to the Nar Natayan Dev Gadi at Ahmedabad. Presenilys HH Acharya Maharajshri
Rake5hprasadji Maharaj adoms the illustriou5 seat of Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi. whilst HH Acharya Maharajsh
Koshlendraprasadji Maharaj has spread the glory of God as Acharya & leader of the Nar Narayan Dev Gadi at
Ahmedabad. It is the uniquenes5 of the authentic bonafidc Swaminarayan Sampraday, that the elo%est a tyagi (saint)
comes to Icadership is being appointed the Mahant Swami Ihead-saint) of a Shikharbandh Temple. At all times, the true

ORIEcfivES AND ACTIVITIES
The Acharya of the NarNaTayan Dev Gadi at Ahmedabad is Presently His Holiness Acharya Shri Koshlendrdprasadji
Maharaj.
The method by which future Acharyas are lo be appointed is enshrin¢d in the document knowm as Desh Vibhag No Lekh.
It is not only a legal document that ha5 Stood the test of tirne5 since it5 ex15tence. it 15 an instruction primarily to the
Acharyas, but with %pe¢ifi¢ instTU¢tIOll5 for th¢ OTdinary followers a150.
It is a wtdely ac¢epted fact thai the Swami]]arayan sampraday ha5 a unique heritage of leadership that stretches back to
the Lord Almighty Puru5hottam Narayan HiMSelf-BI￿gwan Shree Swaminarayan.
As a final note the passage below encapsulates our duty from this day forward..
"You two, who hold the Gadis. have been appointed spititual preceptors., hence all Sadhus, Brah￿￿charj5 and
Palas and 211 our followers shall always remain obedient to your command5. and shall serve you.
Should any person of a Sect (belieo other than that of the two nlling spiritual preceptors of the line of Dharmadev be pre-
ernincnt for his knowledge of the Shashrras or for his practice of Yoga or agceticism or for $elf ienun¢iation, or for arty
othet virtue. and if thereby the two Tuling preceptors of the line of Dharmadev be lowered in estimation, nevertheless we
cotnrnand all Sadhus and Brahmachari8 and Palas and all our followers, Ihat in order to the salvation of their souls, they
always and for ever honour the two rnling spiritual preceptors of the lin¢ of Dhamiadev. and obey them in thought. word
and deed.
Should one, failing this, seek Tefuge in another and honour him, his soul shall never have happiness in this world or in the
woild to come but shall Suffer extreme pains.

The Shikshapatri was written by Bhagwan Shree SwaTninarayan's own blissful hand on Va5ant Panchmi day of Vikram
Samvat 1882, this is a booklet of 212 Shloka5. Shreeji Maharaj sat in the Hari Mandap-His residence at Vadtal Ternple
and wrote it in SanskTit. He instructed the pandit Saint Nityanand Swami to translate it into Gujarati.
To the followers of the Swaminarayan Sampraday, who love and adore their Ishtadev, Ih¢se are words of divine guidance
an how lo live a moral and peaceflll life. The Shikshapatri comprises the essence of all the 5criptute5 of Sanatan Dhartna,
so Swaminarayan followers ￿#d it daily. It contain5 general guidallce and specific Tn5tructions to a variety of categories
of followers the Acharyas & their ￿ve8. householder males and felnales, wrydows. Saints and brahmachaTieS.
At the age of49 years, Shreeji MahaTaj left His physical body at Gadhpur, promising to remain within the Swalninaraya
Sampraday in..

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
l. The Temple has sten an increasing tUTnout for all major festivals like Rarnnaymi, Diwali, Janma5tmi. NaYratri-
Du55hera and Patolsav, however during the year this was curtailed back in line with govemment guidelines due to the
pandcmic.
2. Yuvak and Yuvati ]nandal ¢l#ss¢s operate each Friday and help organise all Youth engagetnent activities, however
during the year this was curtailed b#¢k in line with government 8uideline5 due to the pandemic.
3. The Temple website and social networking sites are continually ￿ltsted with fea￿reS such as photos and vide05 from
past events and announcements for the fi]ture events. Many events were can¢elled or put on hold due to the pandemic.
4. Community. Health and Well-being seminars are bein8 held on a regular basi5 to ra15e awaffne$5 on key issues such
Dementia, Cancer and others, however durittg the year this was curtailed back in line with goveTnment guidelines due to
the pandemic.
5. InteTnatits]]al Sewa Day is held to allow devotees to Continue with selfless service to the environment, however this
event did not take place durittg the year due to the pandemic.
In cornmon with all charitie5. the Charity is heavily reliant on the continuing COTLtributitsn and support of its unpaid
volunteers who have assisted with the day to day operation of the Temple. The TrL￿CeS thank all Of oui volunteers for
the hard work put in during the year, in all aspects including Prashad preparation, various educational activities, library.
cleaning and organization of various events.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Criteria to measure success
The Charity measures it suctess in iemis of numbers attending and parti¢ipating in the many activities and festival%. It
ontinues to promote greater attendance and the increase in the education of those coming to the temple. The numbers of
pcoplc attcnding at the Diwali festivals are usually approximately 10,O(X) a yearbut due to the pandemic this was curtailed
back in line with goveTnmcnt restrictions at the time.
Going coll¢er
In prepariiTrg the financial statements, the tjustees aTe Te5ponsible for assessing the charitys ability to continue & a going
concem, disclosing, as applicable, matter5 Telated to going concern and using the goittg con¢em ba5]5 of accouDting. Tbe
TtU5tees believe that there are no going concern matters that would affetl the Charity for the foreseeable future.
Due to the UK being in lockdown for the year, the mandir has had to Close seveTal time5 in compliance with government
gllidance. Th15 ha5 had an impact in our ability to meet our objectives and has had an impact on our financial position.
The Board believe5 the charity has sufficient funds ¢0 continue operating once the lockdown rules ate rel￿ed.
Accoidingly, the Board believes that adopting the goin8 concern basis in preparing the fintn¢ial 5tatetnents is appropriate
forthc charity. There are no other significant risk5 that arc required lo be reported foT the financial year ended 2021.
P05t year end, Covid 19 has had a significant impact on the Temple and it's objectives. Thi5 includes. curtailment of
aclivilies, festivals, Impact on learning, availability of the temple for the congregation duTing the year for worship and for
schools and publi¢ organisations to learn about Hinduism.
The tcmple. during the year, ¢ook¢d thousands of meals to hospitals and other organisations. Donations were also made
to local hospitals for them to PUTchase much needed equipment for the treatment of covid patients.
From January 2021 until April 2021 the Board worked with NHS England and Ha￿oW Council to set up a Covid 19 test
centre ott the temple premi5e5 free of charge for the benefit of the cotntnunity at laTge.
Reserve5 Policy
It 15 thc policy of the charity that unrestricted fvnds whichhave notbeen designatedfor a5￿c1r1¢ use should beThaintained
at a level equivalent to between three and six month'5 expendituie. The Trustees considers that reserves at this level Mqll
ensure that, in the event of a Significant drop in funding, they will be able lo ¢ontinue the Chatity's Cu￿ent activities while
¢onsideTation is given to ways in which additional funds may be rais¢d. Thi5 level of reserves has been maintained
throughout the yeaT.
Availability adequacy of Assets of each of the lunds
The Board of Truslces are satisfjed wtth the perfotmance of the Charity durillg the year and Consider that the Charity is
in a position to continue its activities during the coming year, and that the charity's assds in each fund are adequate to
lfil its obligations. The ChaTity continue5 to prosper through increasing donatlOll5 and is in a strong financial position
to meeting all foregeeablc charitable obligations, patli¢ularly as the initial funding bank loan has now been repaid.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial review

due to fall in attcndance for vaTiOUS private fun¢iions held due to the pandcmic.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Principal funding
The ptincipal funding sources for the Charity continue to be through gcneral donations froln the congregation and wider
comtnunity for ieligious activities and festivals including Darshall, ThaallBhet alld festival related income such as Diwali.
Patotsav, Ralnnavmi, Janmashtami and halls usage coniribulion from various relgious and cultural activities. The charity
now also has rental income from two investment properties.
Globgl Network ofTemples
The Charity is one of a large number of Temples which come undei the spiritual guidance of Bhuj, India Temple and
fom part of the Shree Nar Narayan Dev Dioses based in Ahtnedabad. Kalupur. The Charity is a150 involved in assisting
connected temples in Sydney and Bhuj tts raise funds for their development requirements.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
The Charity, trustees and volunteers haye worked hard to inctease the number of attendees of the Temple by increasing
the number of r¢ligious. education and culillral activities. A5 result of this haid woik and improved financial positioning,
the trustee5 ale discussing future building use optiODS and varioLts development options to increase faciliti&8 ott site to
continue to further the Charit￿S objectives.
Following thc cnd of this year, the COVID pandemic continued in the closure of the Mandir to the public during the
lo¢kdown and has been restricted since then. As a result (tonations have reduced significantly during the year. The
tjustees are of the opinion that despite this the reserves ofthe charity are sutTi¢i¢Dt to see us through this pandemic in the
edium temi.
Rlsk MAnggement
The trustees identify the major risks to which the Charity is exposed to ¢a¢h financial year when preparing and updating
a strat¢gYc plan, in particular, those areas Telatcd to the operations and finances of the Charity. The Tn￿teeS then review
any majoi risks which have been identifjed alld establish systems to mitigate those risks. The Ttustees continue to put in
place appropriate internal controls alld monitoring procedures to minitnize
fJn2ncial risks.
The Board recognizes that risks exist from a soci81, econornic and legislative aspects of the econolny. but believe that
these #r¢ mitigated with the help and assistance from OUT volunteers and the community at large. The increase in the
attelldance at major festivals is testament to this outside of the pandemic period.
The Trustees have assessed the rnajor ri5k5 to which the charity is exposed and are satisfied that 5y5tetn5 are in plaGe to
mitigate exposure to the major risks.
STRUCTURE. GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Othcr ad-hoG decisions ale taken by the trustees with exccutive positions. The Board of trustees together with Head Priest
(Mahant) of our paicnt Temple ill Bhuj-Kutch {the cx-officio Chairperson of our charity), bave the ￿Wer to elect new
tnjstees. Every 6 years, the 3 eldest Trustees shall voluntarily resign, and the remainin8 trustee5 will select new TTUSte¢s,
tbough the voluntarily resigned trustees are eligible for reselection. New Trustees need to have served in the adwsory
Committee for minimllm of 6 years.
Induction and tr#inirtg of new trustees
As part of their induction piogThn, new trustees are n￿de aware of their re5POll5ibiliti&s and this includes an introduction
to the objectives, scope and policies of the Charity, the Charity Cornmission guidance on TtU5tee
re5pon5ibilitie5 and a ¢opy of the Constitution. Additional training is available lo keep up with all new regulations
concerning the Charity's activities.

The tru51ees are responsible for prepating the Rcport of the Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with

fulfilled our other ethical responsibilities in a¢¢ordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we
have obtained is Sufficient and appropriate io provide a basis for our opinion.

The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in
accordancc with the Charities SORP IFRS 102) 'Accounlin8 and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of

Act 2011. The financial slalements have been prepared Ullder the historical ¢ost Convention.

charity to that expenditure, it is probablc that a transfer of econotnic benefits will be required in selllemellt aDd
