How the charity is constituted:

All parents/carers of pupils at the school are eligible to be trustees and nominations are invited annually at the AGM. New trustees are appointed by a resolution of the existing trustees, and the appointment of a new trustee is recorded in the minutes of a trustee meeting.

The board of trustees and extended committee meets at least once every half term and in regular contact via our communication groups (Classlist, email and WhatsApp). Voting on funding requests happens at committee meetings, but smaller amounts (less than £100) can be expediated via our communication channels (Classlist, email and WhatsApp) and then ratified at the following meeting and recorded in the minutes.

The board works closely with the school headteacher (the chair meeting with the headteacher at least once per term). We welcome suggestions regarding funding or events from parents/carers of the pupils at the school at the AGM and throughout the year via communication in person to class reps or the committee or via our HSA email or Classlist.

Campsbourne School HSA is a member of Parentkind (formerly PTA-UK) The leading membership organisation for parent/teacher associations htps://www.parentkind.org.uk. As members we benefit from appropriate insurance,

support from their helpline and access to their website which has a host of support and guidance material for members of the association to use, including a model constitution, which has been adopted (as above).

This objective is achieved primarily through staging a number of fundraising events throughout the school year, the net proceeds of which are used to fund activities, to purchase equipment and to fund developments at the school which will be for the pupil’s benefit.

ACHIEVEMENTS OVERVIEW

The HSA financial year runs August to August to match the school year. Therefore this report concerns itself with the HSA accounts for the year ending in August 2022.

BALANCE OVERVIEW Aug 2021 - Aug 2022 Aug 2020 – Aug 2021
for comparison
Funds at 30 Aug 2021 £20,339.66 £20,999.98
Total Income £30,275.64 £12,113.22
Total Expenditure £16,911.96 £12,713.54
Funds at 30 Aug 2022 £33,763.34 £20,399.66
Surplus for year £13,363.68 (£600.32)

Overall the fundraising significantly improved compared to the previous year due to the relaxation and ending of covid restrictions. As a result we have been able to return to major fundraising events this year and have held six events including the summer fair which raised £5,092.80.

The level of spending has increased compared to the previous year as the school as looked to the HSA to fund maintenance projects, most significantly, the essential maintenance works to wooden walkways between the trees in the lower playground at a cost of £7,338.

The HSA has continued to benefit from significant donations from one family. The children of the family have now left the school so no further donations are anticipated. During lockdown and while it was not possible to host major fundraising events, the HSA did seek financial donations from parents. However, with the ending of restrictions and the return to fundraising events, no such donations have been actively sought.

The HSA has entered into an ongoing partnership with Tatlers Estate Agents. In return for Campsbourne families agreeing to place a Tatler’s board outside their house for two to three weeks, Tatlers are to contribute £15 per board to the HSA. The intention is for the boards to go up twice a year (i.e. potentially £30 per house, per year), anticipated to be at the time of the summer fair and fireworks night. In addition, Tatlers donated the easter eggs for the easter egg hunt event and an ipad for the auction. £495 was raised from the 2022 summer fair boards but this will be reflected in next year’s accounts as the sum was received from Tatlers after 30 August 2022.
