level will ensure Ihat. in the event of a significant drop in funding, Ihfyy wll be able to continug thè trust's current
activities while consideration 18 given to ways in which additiorial lund5 may b& raised. This level of reserves has
been rnaintain8d throughout the year.

1.1 Basis of preparation
Th6 financial statements havè been prepared in accordance witr the Irusfs goverrting document. the
Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 'The Financial Reportin9 Standard applicabl8 in the UK and RepubliE of
Ireland. and the Charilies SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. St8t8ment ol Re¢ommend8d
Practice applicable to d)arities preparing thèir accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndard
appI￿able in the UK and Rtrpublic of Ireland IFRS 1021 The twst is a Public Benefit Entity as definèd by FRS
102.
The tNst has taken advantage of the provision5 in the SORP for charit16s not lo prepare a statement ol cash
flows.
The finxncial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the trust. Monetsry
amounts in these financial slalements are ioundèd lo the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical ¢ost convention, modi118d to include certain
financial inslrumgnt5 at fair value. The principal accounting policies adupted are sol out below.
1.2 Going ¢on¢•xn
At the lime ol approving the finandal statements. the trustees have a reasonablg expectation that thè trust
has ad8qUAte rasources lo continue in Operational existence for thé foreseeable future. Thus the trusletss
continue to adopt th8 going concem basi8 of accounb.ng in preparing th8 financial staternerhts.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds aw available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance ol Ihelr charitable
objectives.
1.4 Incorne
Income Is recognised wh8n the tmst is legally entilled lo it after any perfomanc8 conditions havo been mel,
the amounts can be measured reliably. and il is probable that income will be received.
Cash donations are recognised on r8c&ipl. Other donaliorbs are rtrcognised once thè trust has been notified of
the donation, unless performancs ¢onditiorns require deferral of Iha amount. Income tsx recoverable in r81ation
lo donatioNs mceived under GIft￿d or d¢ed5 of covenant 18 reeognised at the limo of the donation.
Legacies ara recognised on re¢glPt or otherwise il the trust has bean notified of an itnpending distribuli(>n, the
amount is known, and receipt is expeGted. If the amount Is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent
asset.

1.5 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation lo transfer economic bènefit to 8
third party, it is probable that a transfer of teonomie bènefits will be required in seltlemenl, and the amount of

Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs of each acliwly are made up of the total of (5irert Gosts and
shared costs, induding support Costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable lo a single
activity awe allocated direGtly to that activity. Shared c05t5 whith contrabule lo more than one activily and
upport costs which are not attiibutsble to a single aGtivity are appotliDned between those adivities on a basis
consistent with the us8 of resouices. Central staff costs are allocated on th8 basis of tim6 Spènt. and
depreciation charges are allocated on the ￿rtIOn of the asset's use.
1.6 Flxed asset investments
Fixed asset inv95tments are initially measured at transaction price excluding transaction ¢05ts, and are
subsequently measured at fair valu8 at aach rèporting data. Chang8s in fail value are recognised in net
In¢omalloxp&nditurel for the y8ar. Transadon Costs are 8xpensgd as In¢uffgd.
1.7 Cash and cash èqulvalènts
Cash and (ash oquivalents inGlud9 Ga5h in hand, deposits hBld at call with tsa￿ks, other short-term liquid
investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank oveidrafts are show
wlthin borrowings in current liabilillgs.
