## **TRUSTEES REPORT YEAR END MARCH 2024**

This financial year ended 31/03/24 and it has been another challenging year for the Charity.

Despite these challenges, with the help of our volunteers we have managed to restore the bottom hall by replacing the damaged parquet flooring, re-sanding the whole floor, and the re-varnishing will be completed before the end of the year. The walls have been newly painted and the 2 small rooms within the bottom hall have been brought back into use for our young people, both have had make-overs, one is now a sensory room and the other is a hair and beauty room. The walls in the coffee bar have also been re-painted, it has new modern tables for the young people to eat, drink and relax, TV and small couches for playing computer games or watching TV. We have also created a movie room opposite the coffee bar that has been decorated and it has large loungers for relaxing while watching a movie.

KNC were successful in securing funding for a new I.T. suite as the computers in the existing suite were old and didn’t have the latest software. We have 6 brand new computers which are available for the general public to come and use for job searches, general information etc and we would like to involve our pensioners group in a project to help them understand the basics of how to use a computer.

The upgrading of the electrics and lighting is complete with the exception of a few small outstanding works.

We would like to thank all the staff and volunteers for all their help and support throughout the year who have given up their time to work with us in the Centre. They have worked tirelessly which has enabled us to maintain the quality of the service provision to the local community.

Most of the Charity's income is from grants and donations and most grants are restricted to specific projects. Rental income was received for room hire the in the Centre for football training, 5 aside football for both young and old people, dance classes, fitness classes, art events and consultation with the local community.

## **Fundraising**

We are currently seeking grant aid to help us fund the cost a new boiler as the Centre has been without central heating since November 2023 when the existing boiler broke down. We have applied for funding through the VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme the closing date for applications is August 2024, with a decision on whether our application has been successful made at the end of October 2024.

The KNC have again been successful in obtaining small amounts of funding from Liverpool City Council, Sutton Croft (HAF) Merseyplay, Vola and National Lottery to deliver project for the community. We hope to continue this success and raise as much funding as is available.

## **The Road Ahead**

We are aware we need to capitalise on our operational successes and need further commitment from Trustees. We will continue to provide our community with the services and activities they want and at the same time we will be looking and encouraging organisations to make more use of the Community Centre to deliver projects and activities for the residents of Kirkdale. We have received numerous occasions if they can hire rooms for birthday parties for their children and this is something we are in a better position to offer since the bottom hall is available for use again. This would bring us more income for the hire of the room and support the community.

Our vision is to continue to improve community relationships and create a place where all members of the community feel happy, safe and welcome.

Trustee of Kirkdale Neighbourhood Community
