The FOSM hosted a series of fundraising
geological talks gNen by staff in the University
of Cambridge and elsewhere.
The Society organised fundraising educational
geology field trips, to Iceland and locally.
There were two fundraising social events: an
Xmas Party and Annual Dinner.
The Trustees are aware of, and follow, the
guidance issued by the Charity Commission on
public benefit.

people who listened to the lectures and came
on the field trips.
The FOSM donation of £6,tKXI to the Sedgwick
Museum provided support for 4 student
placements working across the Museum for
the public benefit, including production of a
display showcasing women in geol(yi to
encourage young people into science careers.

The financial position of FOSM is sound.
Cash funds at yearond - £33,915.
The closing balance of the Bardays community
account- £20,601. Of this sum, £11.250 is held
in reserve for payments due for future fund-
raising trips. Thefefore. the unencumbered
balance is £9,350.
The closing balance of the Cambridge Building
Society= £13,314.
The large sum held in reserve in the Cambridge
Building Society was due to a very large
donation many years ago. The policy now is to
gradually shift money to the current account to
maintain the current level of annual donation
to the Sedgwick Museum

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of
The Friends of Sedgwick Museum
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Friends of Sedgwick
Museum (the Charity) for trie year ended 31st March 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordan￿ with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts Ca￿led out under section
145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable
Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examinerfs statement
I have completed my examination. I confinn that no material matters have come to my
attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any
material respect:
1 . accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of
the Act,. or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records" or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and
content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008
other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view which is not a
matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the
examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.
