The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Rewrting by Charities- Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charitie5 preparing their account5 in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective l January 20191. OBJEcfivES AND AcfiviTIES Objectives and aims The objectives of the charity as per its governing document are= - To advance education,. - To further such other charitable purposes as the trustees may decide. In setting objectives and planning for artivities. the Trustees have given due consideration to general guidance published by the Charity Commission relating to public benefit, including the guidance 'Public benefit.. running a charity IPB21'. Significant artivities The Trustees undertake to give grants to other charitable bodies in order to achieve ￿5 objectives. Grants given are at the full discretion of the Trustees, who hold regular meetings to discuss potential grant giving opportunities. Public benefit The charity undertakes to further its purposes for the public benefit through the giving of grant5 to other charitable bodies as it sees fit. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities The Charity has continued with its grant giving programme during the year, giving a total of 17 grants totalling £138,48612024: £64,440). FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial position The Charity had total income for the year of £133,59812024.. £83.2861 comprising of £130,92612024.. £82,751) from 'donations and gift aid, and £2,672 12024.. £5351 from investment intome. Expenditure totalled £141,806 12024.. £66,360) consisting of £138.48612024.. £64.4401 on grant5 and £3.32012024= £1.9201 on support COSts. All income and expenditure for both 2025 and 2024 was unrestricted. Funds carrie¢J forward totalled £47,18612024: £55,394), all of which were unrestritted. Reserves policy The Charity held unrestricted funds at the end of the year of E47.18612024.' £55,394). These reserves are considered adequate by the Trustees, and will allow the charity to continue making grants in the next financial period. In view of the nature of the charity, the Trustees are satisfied that no formal level of reserves are required, 35 grants are only made when there are available funds, and the charity does not have any liabilities to make grants. Going concern The Charity has minimal fixed costs, with the main source of expenditure being grants made to institutions which can be made at the discretion of the Trustees. Furthermore, the Charity had a healthy net asset position at the year end. The Trustees therefore consider that based on the circumstances existing at the date of signature of the accounts the charity is a going concern. This basis is adopted within these accounts. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the account5 in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 Ilhe Act'l. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried OLrt under Section 145 of the Act and in carrying OLrt my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 14515llbl of the Act. Independent examiner'5 Statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respert.. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act,. or the accounts do not accord with those records- or the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. The Desai Farnity Charity Trust Note5 to the Financial StstementS for the Year Ended 5 April 2025 ACCOUNTING POLICIES Basis of preparing the financial statements The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities- Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective l January 20191,, Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. Incorne All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. Expenditure Liabilities are r￿ognIsed as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the Use of resources. Grant5 offered subjert to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment but not accrued as expenditure. Taxation The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities. Fund accounting Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.
