History of Significant events
In 1989 East Grinstead Crickct c.lub and last Grinstead Hockci. Club mcrged to create Ea￿ Grin5tcad STX>rts Club. Both
clubs had a long tradition of plal'ing sp)n in the town bui could see Ihe benefits of joining forces for mutual advantage.
As pan of ihe merger the cricket ground ai ￿'est Street i%'as SO1￿ and the cricket club moi'ed to the current site at Saint Hill.

a gubstaniial part of that forn)er club to be Lepi iogeiher for the benefit of Ihe community. After raising the required
funds. th¢ Sport5 Club was ablc lo cotnplcic its objecti￿¢ of dci'cloping thrce nem." squash courts. which wer¢
oificially opened in Sepiember 2012.
In 2010 ihe sand based fooiball pilih w.as replaced wilh a 3(1 piich financed in part bv a loan. and in part by a

In 2013 ihe surface of the ii'aier-b&sed hocLe)' pitch il'as replaced- financed through grants, donations and
sponsorship tunds.

LED lights. which also reduced lighi polluiion for those living locallv.
In November 20?0 the Lharit). receii'ed pemii%sion to use some ofits land for junior football. further expanding the
rangc of facilitics availablc to thc local communiti". Thc Chariti. oii-ns and opcraics East Griiistcad Sports c.lub as a
mulii-use sp)ning faciliry, open to all members of Ihe public.
In addition, as at 30 SepteM￿r 2024 there were six S￿rtS clubs chose 10 ￿lIlate to the charity. and base their clubs at the
F.G Men s and l.adies I lockei. C lub. F.G Cricket Club. Felbridge Badminion Club, CD Phoenix Neiball
