The Trustees present their report along with the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31st
March 2022. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with our accounting policies and
comply with the applicable law and the requirements of the Charities Act 1993. as amended by the
Charities Act 2011, and the trust deed. The Trustees have adopted a receipts and payments
accounting method.

Constltution and Ob'ects
Zera Avraham Trust was established by the use of a Constrtution and Memoranda as set out in the
Declaratlon of Trust which was fomially signed by the future Trustees on 21 November 2001 and
subsequently ratified by the Charity Commisston. It was amended with our change of name by
resolution of the Trustees dated 31 January 2CK)9 and is a registered charity No. 1090972.
The principal objects of Zera Avraham are:

To advance the Messianic faith in accordance with our statement of beliefs which are set out in
our charitls constitution in the London Borough of Croydon. County of Surrey and in other parts
of the UK and World asthe Trustees may see fit.
To relieve those in conditions of need or hardship or who are aged or sick and to relleve dlstress
caused in the above localities and in in other parts of the UK and World as the Trustees may see
fit.
To promote and fulfil other charttable purposes beneficial to the community in the above localities
and in In other parts of the UK and World as the Trustees may see fft.
Structure

Zera Avraham's governing document is its constitution set out in the Trust Deed. which is
reviewed periodically. The Trustees of the charity nom)ally meet officiallythree tlmes a year and
liaise frequently to review the operational and financial activities of the charity. At present all
trustees are members of the synagogue.
External affiliations
Zera Avraham is affiliated to the UBMS who provide oversi8ht and employ our Rabbi who we pay
the UBMS to employ him. Zera Avraham pays monthly and yearly membership fees and both the
Rabbi and Rebbetsin are members of the Executive. Rabbi Boaz 15 head ofthe UBMS Bet Din and
the Rebbetzin is the administrator.
Achievement of ob'ectives and revlew of actlvEtles
Zera Avraham's objectives for the benefrt of the public are set in the chariVs Trust Deed and have
been summarised under the constitution and objects sertion.
The objectives are Set to reflect its faith and community aims. Each year the Trustees revlew the
objectives and activities of the charity to ensure they continue to reflect those aims. In carryin8
out this review the Trustees have considered the Chartty Commission's guidance on public benefit
and In particular its supplementary public guidance on the advancement of religion for the public
benefit. Zera Avraham seeks to promote Messianic Judaism in the spheres of public worship.
religious, educational, social, cultural, and charitable activities.
Teathlng
Zera Avraham's leadership team is well established with the Rabbi and Rebbet2in bein8 founder
members. They have benefrtted from meeting and discussing with other leaders especially on the
Bet Din where study and research has led to halakha being set out based on Torah principles. They
both serve on the Executive of the UBMS and benefrt from the exchange of ideas. The Leadership
were able to meet and share with the wider UBMS community at the UBMS Annual Conference In
August and the Leaders, conference. later in 2021. We have continued with the Gateway to
Judaism course although it has had to be on-line due to the Pandemic and the fact that we
entered this financial year without a permanent building. This has also meant that many of our

Shabbat services took place on Zoom. We were fortunate to be able to meet together socially
outside in the summer and for our High Holy Days in a Community Hub where we rented a room.
We have been meetin8 since December in a hired buildingon Shabbat.
Outreach in the Community
Much of our work is around the Zera Avraham community and the leadership Is not just involved
in teachin8 but in pastoral and charitable work supporting those in our synagogue community. It
has been a difficult year for us as forthe majority ofthe yearwe have had no weekly meetin8
place along with some soci31 distancing restrictions. and as with many people around the world.
Our commun5ty have embraced new technology and when we have been unable to meet in
person have joined on Zoom. We have also had a number of enquiries to join our community on
Ilne and it was good to see many of them alon8 Wlth our usual members at our High Holv
celebrations in the Autumn. As well as weekly Shabbat Services on Shabbat and our festival
se￿l¢eS we have held early mornin8 prayerstwo mornings a week. a weekly evening prayer
meeting and a bible study group. We have continued to develop our link with a congregation in
South West Kenya who join us for the early morning and evening prayer meetings. The leaders
have also completed our Gateway to Judaism course.
It has been sad that due to the pandemic and the loss of our building we have not been active with
the sch¢)ols and youth 8roups. Our community continue though to be active in working with the
Messianic Community in South West Kenya. We have continued through donatlons from members
in the communityto support the orphans of the community through donationsto provide a
midday meal forthem in school.
We have slnce the beginnin8 of December 2021 be8un renting a space in a hall adjacent to a
rellgious buildin8. Although this has not been ideal for us it has meant that we have been able to
meet on Shabbat together In person once again. We also offer the service on Zoom for those
members of the synago8ue who are unable to rneet with us due to distance.
Plans for the future.
We continue to look for a new home for our community, not easy in these times.The
relationship wtth the congregation in Kenya we hope will continue online and possibly in
the future with a visit there. We are beginning to make links with the community where
we meet on Shabbat. Some members of Zera Avraham are involved with activities run in
the hall during the week and we hope to invite the local community to meet with us in the
future.
Financial review
The main source of income for the Charity are voluntary donation5 from the members of our
syna8ogue. This has also Included this year specific donations for the orphans in Kenya. We also
were able to apply for Gift Aid for 2 past years which has helped to b005t our building saving fund.
Despite us losing some donors we have continued to be able to keep up our commitment to pay
our Rabbi a day and a half a week and also offer to support to those in need.

Our biggest out80in8s have been for the building which induded a fuel bill and a bill for electric
work from our last building and removal costs to storage facilities. Aso induded in this is our
storage costs for our equipment from our old building. We may in the fiAture need to move to a
smaller unit to make sure we are able to pay for the unit and also cover the rent for the hall on
Shabbat. The Increase in travel costs included the hire of a van to take the Ark and Bema to
conference so that others from the synagogue could be offered transport to the syna8ogue.
It is hoped we are able to support other projetts in the f￿Ure and while looking out for new
premises we are thinkingof ways to be involved in the local community whereverthat may be.
The Statement of Financial Attivities for the year to 31 March 2022 Is set out in an attached
document. It shows an operating surplus of £ 7.269 (mainly due to the gift aid donation) This
compares with last yearfs surplus of £4,203

The Charity should be held at £2.000 at any one point, if possible. The Charity has complied with
the policythroughout the year. The Charity had no funds in deficit duringthe year.

The trustees have examined the major strategic, business. and operational risks faced by Zera
Avraham and confirm that systems are in place. or arrangements have been established, to
manage rlsks that have been identified. Appropriate DBS checks, SUPPOrted by appropriate
safeguarding policies. are made for those who work with children or vulnerable groups within the
syna808ue.
Zera Avraham ha5 been covered by Public Liability Insurance and approprlate Buildings and
Contents insurance while in the building and while the syna808ue items are in the storage facility
we will be paying insurance forthem.
