## **Quatt Village Hall Trustees Annual Report 2023-2024**

We have remained as an active support network to parishioners again this year.

We had a carer's wellbeing event in January to support unpaid carers in the area. Over 70 people attended. From this, Our new Carers Connect sessions started this year, on the last Thursday of every month. We are in partnership with health groups to aid access of services and a positive environment to have fun and activities. We have had visiting organisations for example Age uk, Dementia uk, Admiral Nurses, Shropshire council coordinator. We have had a grant to support us to do this from The Wenlock Forresters. This supports with refreshments, heating and activities, so it is free to attend. Community Resource followed on from this and offered an MOT/ wellbeing day for people over 65 which included assessments, advice and practical support.

We have a trustee who is a blood pressure champion for us and surrounding area. They have held sessions at the hall, attended various venues including the opening of the satellite surgery in Highley. They have highlighted high blood pressures in people attending the hall and been able to refer folks onto their GP.

Our warm hub crafting group is going from strength to strength with a healthy numbers increase and attracting people from surrounding areas. We offer a warm space, hot food, company and transport if needed. Initially we set up for winter months, but it has proved so swccessful it is now continuing for every first Friday of the month and it celebrated its second Anniversary this month.

We were lucky to have financial support in a grant from Persimmons Homes Builders for the first 12 months; this has helped us pay for the food, electric and continue a free at the point of entry session. Numbers increase each month, so we were grateful of support from The Howard Thompson bequest with their grant helping us continue.

We were involved raising awareness with the community regarding the access the health and wellbeing consultation survey, one of our trustees attending the Shropshire council meeting with Tasley council on this. Going forward the Village Hall was invited to take part in the Bridgnorth and Surrounding area stakeholders meetings and in Community Connections.

We also shared the information of the proposed closure of the recycling centre and the petition. Following on, have helped folk's book slots in the new booking system

We continue to promote our accessible building for use by other groups. The hall has been booked for one off events and private bookings, children's parties, christenings and weddings, we love that our hall is a vibrant building.

Our regular lettings, Quatt Tinplate runner's clockwork Railway Club, Pilates, Guitar workshops, band practice etc have continued, and an additional seated Pilate's class has started, to make exercise more Accessible and inclusive. Additionally, we have had lots of returned business with lettings, including the National Trust.

The Death Cafe in November was very well attended. This was to explore not just bereavement, but discuss, plan and think about what you want for yourself. It included celebrants and counsellors supporting people share their experiences. This may now be a yearly option.

Our trustees continue to be active in the community, helping out at the Bridgnorth Christmas day lunch in town on Christmas day. We supported the Bridgnorth walk and marathon with marshalling up at the top of The Clee water station and we opened up the hall for a get together for The Bridgnorth Christmas tractor run, raising around £400 from refreshments and with collection buckets. The money raised went to Hope Hospice and MacMillan cancer support.

We commemorated D Day in June; with beautiful crafts decorating the hall from the warm hub craft group (these were shared with the church for Remembrance Sunday). We linked with the bell ringers to mark the day, and the community who may have lost servicemen. Funds raised at this event were for Models for Heroes an ex-service activity group.

We had live theatre performance from Pentabus, 'Driftwood' and the writer came to see their play at the hall. It is fabulous to have live events that are accessible to all audience members, as this production was captioned and audio described. The feedback was very positive, as it was for Toronto-based folk duo, Basset.

People came for a taster session of Sequence dancing. It's a really fun way to enter the world of ballroom, so we had Strictly Quatt

We had a stall at Orchard day, thanks to NT Dudmaston, with our homemade wares (big thank you to everyone to made beautiful items). We also had fun supporting Quatt Farm Shop with their Craft day and attending Ludstone Hall near Claverley in August with our stall of homemade goodies.

Christmas arrived and so did Skittles and it was lovely to have fun together again at the hall. Thanks to everyone who came along and bought raffle tickets.

Santa's reindeer dropped him off for the children's Christmas party which we provided free. Santa also delivered each child in the parish a present.

The National Trust had their community Christmas tree decorations event
in Comer wood again this year, and we were very pleased to be asked to
join in. We had 2 trees one for the hall with village Children's decorations
and one for the Warm Hub craft group. We all upped our steps that week
visiting the trees and the children loved seeing their art work on display.
The children have continued to enjoy the half term craft days at the hall
and we will hope to do more of these.
We had to cancel Our Twixmas walk due to the weather, but we want to
look at this again.
Local Arley artist, Sarah Stokes, held taster art classes at the village hall,
which gave our inner artist the chance of an outing. She has become a
friend and supporter of the hall.
Our Burns Night with our piper and haggis was lots of fun. A big thank
you to Mark, Siobhan and their staff for their support in pulling off a really
hearty meal.
One of the best attended events was PMQ'S, pie, mash and quiz night, a
great fundraiser and great fun .we were told that Sue's Pies are better
than Beamans!
The annual Easter walk and toddle for little legs was a soggy one. So we
had more crafts and games, and more cake eating. It was still well
attended, chocolate eggs were distributed to the children (Inc after the
events for little ones that couldn't attend) So thanks to everyone who
came, created the artivities, made cakes and scones.
Another huge fundraiser was from The Last Picture show live music event.
A great night and a fabulous amount was raised. We had more music too,
from "A celebration of Simon and Garfunkel"
Going forward we are planning our next season of events, amazing shows
again from Pentabus, more music and comedy from a Quatt regular
Nicolas Collett. Watch this space, currently we have new theatre with
Polaris the Snow bear via Arts Alive and Honest Lies set in Birmingham in
1970's and art workshops.
Our Treasurer is keeping a keen eye on outgoings in line with cost of
living crisis which is still affecting the whole area.
Positive news
.We have had a local contrartor working with us to affect
our new heating system of which you can all feel the difference. Outside
repairs and painting were undertaken.

Also, working with another local contrattor,
the large windows were made and fitted in this summer. So our grants
have been able support the local community in buying local.
We are getting quotes for a loop system and will be looking at grants for
that, the new lighting needed and roof repair. Future proofing the hall
takes time and lots of grant money and fundraising. Thank you for
supporting our fundraising efforts again this year.
We continue to have great links on social media, it helps us connett with
organisations within Shropshire and share our artivities. Our website and
newsletter are helping with bookings online. Ticketsource is still popular
and the sum up payment system helped us sell our raffle tickets far and
wide
We are grateful of the parish magazine, and thank Ian Maddock for
producing it; this helps us to connert with the continued support from our
nearby village neighbours. Thanks to Jane Deighton for delivering it in
Quatt.
This year Quatt has been anonymously nominated for Best Kept Village
community competition. The road show presentation for potential
entrants will take place on 23rd January Ipm everyone is invited to attend
by booking a place
We would like to thank our trustees who work very hard to keep things
going, the Friends of the hall who support with volunteering their time to
help. A big thank you to the people who have supported the events we
have donei you help to keep the hall a living vibrant building and
available to everyone.
Signed. (4n
