To fulfil such other purpos8s which are exclusively charitable in the law of England and Wales and are connected with the charitable work of the Trust. Structure, Governance and Management Urbcin Expressiun is cl Tegisleied charity, governe(J by declaration ol trust executed on the 8 October 2001 as amended 11 June 2008 and by deeds of variation dated 21 April 2010 and 12 July 2010. Funds held as ¢u$todian trusteg on behalf of others. New Housing Hub is a new charity with similar aims to Urban Expression, whiGh is in the process of compleling the papernvork elc to be properly established 'ith Ihe charity commission. Since their funders require the money lo be held by a registered Charity, we have agreed lo host them temporarily. Al the year-end we are holding £4.618 in cash in a restricted fund. Publle Ben¢flt In Common with many other Drganisalions, Urban Expression has been deeply impacted by the three lockdowns and other restrictions Imposed during the p8st 18 months In light ol the pandemi¢. Although we have continued to operate locally through our 24 teams arTrd lo coordinale the uverall work through our dispèrsed tèam of coordinators. this has been a period in which many plans have fFecessarily been on hDld. No new teams have been deployed in the pa51 year, although we are in conversation with several people and these conversations may result in the emergence of new teams soon. However. we have explored the opportunities of oriline activities, reGognising both their potential and shortcomings. While we are likely lo make increasing use of online aclivilies. we enjoyed meeting in person again al two teams. days in July and November. Summary of the main activities undertaken Urb2n Expression has Conlinuecl lo recruit. equip. deploy. and nelwork mission partners In economically deprived and other marginalised n8ighbourhoods in England. Scotland. Wales and Northern Ireland. A small learn ol coordinators is primarily responsible for supporting these mission partners. Coastal Expression. which operates unc5er the auspices of Urban Expression, has continue to develop and has hosted online and in-person events for pioneers in coa51al Communities. We have continued lo run the Crucible course, especially in partnership with The Melhodisl Church. We have also continued lo run the Black Light course in partnership with the Ascension Trust. With our partners. Urban Life, we have facililaled Communities of Practice lo enable parlicipants in these courses to embed what they have learned in their ongoing praGtice. We have provided coaching for pioneers working under the auspices of the Church at the Margins initiative of The N4ethodist Church. Our trustèes have continued to meet twice a year in ord6r to oversee the activities of the Trust. They have had regard to the guidance Issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. Rrk)
Urban Expression Trustees. annual report for the year ended 31 December 2022 Summary of achievements and porformanc• During this year, several new mission partners were recruited, so that we now have more mission partners in more locations than ever before. Our mission partners are involved in a wide range of incarnational mission activities. including church plankn'ng. We celebraled our twenly-fifth anniversary this year with a Community Weekend in June, attended by nearly 90 people. Regional gatherings in the north and south ol England 8nabl8d mission partners in these areas lo connect with each olher. In common with many other orgar¢isalions posl-pandemic. we are increasingly connecting online, but we v8lue in-person gatherings. The Black Light course has proved very popular and has continu8d to attract good numbgrs from many contexts. Feedback has been very encouraging. The organisation's policy on reserve$ Resetves have been set aside lo cover a minimum of six months running costs. The total unrestricted reserves helcj al the year end were P46,764 12021". £57.5181. Purposos of Restricted Funds BMS Wortd Mission give Crucible bursaries lo assist those who coutd not otherwise attend the training conference due lo costs of fees and accommodation. EMBA. HEBA and YBA have all contributed towards the stipend of a Coordinator for their region. BIC donated funds to be used for the sUPPOrt of 3 Staff member's neiworking and development role. A.S Charitable Trust provided fvnding for coordinator roles. Coastal Expression- project funding. Rural Ministries provided funding for support of the Crucible Course. Mennonite Grant provided funding for a coordinator role.
