Review Review Of Of Activities Activities We We are are the the only only specialist specialist youth youth club club in[in] Westminster Westminster for[for] learning learning disabled[disabled] and[and] autistic[autistic] young young people[people] aged[aged] 11[11] to[to] 25.[25.] At[At] Caxton Caxton Youth Youth Organisation, Organisation, our our mission mission is[is] to[to] shape shape a a more more inclusive[inclusive ] society society free[free] from[from] disabling[disabling barriers] barriers where[where] all[all] young[young] people people are are able[able] to[to] lead[lead] happy, happy, healthy healthy and[and] independent independent lives.[lives.] 

Caxton Caxton Youth Youth Organisation Organisation is[is] fully fully committed committed to[to] equality, equality, diversity diversity and[and] inclusion.[inclusion. We] We ensure ensure that[that] our[our] staff,[staff,] partners[partners] and[and] young young people[people] can[can] thrive[thrive] and[and] achieve[achieve] their[their] potential.[potential.] We[We] remove[remove] the[the] barriers[barriers] to[to] ensure[ensure] that[that] our[our young] young people[people] can[can] fully[fully] access access our our provision. provision. We[We] value[value] learning[learning disabled] disabled and[and] autistic[autistic ] young young people[people] making[making decisions] decisions in[in] all[all] aspects[aspects][ of their] of their lives,[lives,] including includingthe design the design of[of][ the] the services[services] they they receive[receive] from[from] Caxton[Caxton][ Youth] Youth Organisation.[Organisation.] Our Our provision provision is is designed designed to to increase increase independence, independence, reduce[reduce] social[social] isolation,[isolation,] increase[increase] health[health] and[and] wellbeing,[wellbeing,] improve[improve] employability employability skills[skills] and[and] develop develop the[the] voice[voice and] and agency agency of[of our ] our young young people.[people.] 

> Our Our Services Services This This year year we we delivered delivered a a flexible flexible programme programme of of youth-led youth—led activities, activities, both[both][ from] from our our centre[centre] in[in] Westminster[Westminster] and[and] from[from a] a range[range] of of different locations different locations for for day day trips trips and and residential residential visits.[visits.] Our Our five five programmes programmes included included Employment Employment Support, Support, Independence, Independence, Social[Social] and[and] Emotional[Emotional Wellbeing,] Wellbeing, and[and] Health[Health] and[and] Getting Getting Active.[Active.] We We redesigned redesigned our our Opportunities Opportunities programme programme to[to] become[become] Creating Creating Communities[Communities] and[and] Opportunities,[Opportunities,] extending extending it[it] to[to] include[include ] music, music, digital digital skills[skills] and[and] community community[ trips.] trips. We We ran ran three three youth youth sessions sessions a week a week during during term time term time with[with] a a mixture[mixture] of[of] open open access access and[and] programme programme delivery.[delivery.We] We started[started] a a new new Girl's[Girl's] Group, Group, recognising recognising there[there] was was a a need[need] for[for] a[a] female[female] only[only] space, space, where[where] we[we were] were able[able] to[to] provide[provide more] more targeted[targeted] support. support. For For young people young people across across Westminster Westminster who who are are not not yet yet able[able] to[to][ travel ] travel independently, independently, we[we provided communitytransport] provided community transport at[at] no[no] cost cost to to families, families, with[with] our our wheelchair-accessible[wheelchair-accessible] minibus.[minibus.] Our Our extensive extensive school school holiday holiday programmes programmes included included daytrips daytrips and[and] activities, activities,[ with] with 28[28] sessions[sessions][ delivered] delivered in[in] the[the] year. year. We[We] also also ran ran 3 3 residential residential trips trips leaving leaving London, where London, where young young people people thrived[thrived] on on opportunities[opportunities] to[to] participate[participate] in[in] exciting[exciting outdoor] outdoor pursuits, pursuits, growing growing their[their confidence] confidence and[and] independence. independence. 

The The Caxton Caxton Youth Youth Government Government elected elected four four new new ministers, ministers, providing providing a a youth youth led[led] space space where where our our youth youth ministers[ministers] determined determined the the priorities priorities that that we we worked worked on. on. Our Our young young people people also[also] co-designed[co—designed] the[the] activities[activities and] and services[services] across[across][ our] our provision. provision. Our Our support support provided provided much-needed much—needed respite respite to[to] parents/carers parents/carers of of young young people, people, helping helping to to reduce reduce stress stress and and giving giving parents/carers parents/carers more more time[time][ to] to look[look] after[after themselves] themselves and[and] any any other[other children.] children. 

Our Our Fundraising Fundraising Without Withoutour community's generosity, our community's generosity, we we simply simply couldn't provide couldn't provide this[this] level[level] of[of] support support to[to] the[the ] young young people[people] of[of][ Westminster.] Westminster. Over Over the the past past year, year, kind kind and and caring caring people, people, organisations, organisations, trusts trusts and[and] foundations[foundations] helped[helped] our[our ] young young people[people] explore[explore] their[their] passions, passions, secure secure jobs, jobs, make[make] lifelong[lifelong] friendships, friendships, and[and] discover[discover] their[their] sense sense of[of][ belonging.] belonging. Our Our charity partnership charity partnership with with Aspire Aspire Landsec Landsec entered entered its[its] second second year, year, and[and ] we we began began planning planning to[to] rebuild[rebuild] our outdoor[our outdoor] base[ base] in[in] Surrey. Surrey. Thank[Thank] you you to[to] those[those] who[who] fundraised[fundraised] by[by] doing doing the[the] Charity[Charity][ Golf] Golf Day[Day] in[in] 2023[2023] raising[raising £11,173] £11,173 and[and] the[the] Three[Three] Peaks[Peaks] Challenge Challenge which[which] raised[raised] £9,644 £9,644 for[for] our our young young people. people. Our[Our trustee] trustee Anthea[Anthea] Besser[Besser][ also] also ran[ran] 10km[10km] to[to] raise[raise] £411.[£411.] We[We] also[also] successfully successfully achieved achieved our our targets targets in[in] the[the] Big[Big] Give[Give] Christmas[Christmas] campaign campaign with[with] support[support] from[from] the[the] Reed[Reed] Foundation[Foundation] to[to] raise[raise] a[a] total total of of £10,160 £10,160 plus plus Gift Aid. Our Our Space Space Caxton Caxton had had to to move move out out of our of our building building for for 7 7 months months from from July July 2023 2023 to to January January 2024, 2024, for[for] essential essential works works to[to] be be done.[done.] The[The] entire entire youth provisionand youth provision and staff staff team team had had to to be be relocated relocated during during this time, this time, as as the duration the duration of[of] the the works works extended[extended] beyond beyond the[the] original original timeframe. timeframe. This This meant meant we we needed needed to[to] adapt adapt our services our services over over this[this time] time to[to] ensure ensure we we could[could][ still] still need[need] the[the] needs[needs][ of] of our our young people. young people. We are We are thankful thankfulfor the generosity for the generosity of of our partner our partner Landsec, Landsec, who who provided staff provided staff with[with] a a base base for[for] the the duration duration[of the works. We] of the works. We would would also also like like to to thank thank Jane Jane Buttigieg Buttigieg from from Encouragement Encouragement Through Through The The Arts Arts and and Talking Talking (ETAT), (ETAT), who who allowed us allowed us to to use use their community their community space at space at the the Thamesbank Thamesbank Centre, Centre, where where our our young young people people could could access access our youth our youth club[club ] evenings. evenings. We We moved moved back back into into a a greatly greatly improved improved space, space, that that was was completely completely rewired rewired with[with] a a new new fire[fire] alarm alarm system. system. We[We ] were were also[also] supported supported by by Landsec Landsec and and the the Aspire partnership Aspire partnership to[to] redecorate redecorate the[the] space, space, making a making a much[much ] brighter brighter and[and] welcoming welcoming space space for for everyone. everyone. 

FINANCIAL FINANCIAL REVIEW REVIEW The financial statements, The financial statements, which which have have been been prepared prepared in[in] accordance accordance with with applicable applicable accounting accounting standards, standards, present present a a true true and and fair fair view view of the organisation's of the organisation's financial financial position. The position. The Board Board of[of] Trustees Trustees are are satisfied satisfied with[with] the the year's year's results.[results.] Despite Despite the[the] challenging challenging economic economic environment, environment, the the trustees trustees believe[believe] these these results[results] put put Caxton[Caxton] in[in] a a strong strong position position for[for] delivering[delivering] its[its] three-year three-year plan. plan. Total Total income was income was higher than higher than previous previous years years at at £425,659, £425,659, a a modest modest increase increase of of 0.6% 0.6% on on 2023 2023 income. income. Expenditure increased Expenditure increased[from] from £274,586 £274,586 to[to] £398,189 £398,189 (an (an increase[increase] of[of][ 45%] 45% on[on] 2023). 2023). A[A] large large portion[portion] of[of][ this] this increase[increase] was[was] due[due] to to extensive, extensive, one one off, off, re-wiring re-wiring costs costs which which were were incurred incurred to to modernise modernise Caxton's Caxton's premises premises and and ensure ensure they they are are a a safe safe and and suitable suitable environment environment to to operate operate from. from. There There was was also also an an increase increase in[in] staff staff costs. costs. 

RESERVES RESERVES POLICY POLICY In In the the Trustees' Trustees’ view, view, the the reserves reserves should should provide the charity provide the charity with with adequate adequate financial financial stability stability and and the the means means for for it[it] to to meet meet its its charitable charitable objectives objectives for for the the foreseeable foreseeable future. The future. The reserves reserves have have been been built built up up over over the the last last five[five] years years as as the the charity charity transitions transitions to to a a funding model funding model which which is is not reliant not reliant on on local local government government funding. funding. Furthermore, taking Furthermore, taking into[into] consideration consideration the[the] impact impact[of] of the the cost-of—living cost-of-living crisis crisis on on the the charity's charity's[income] income streams streams in[in] the[the] longer longer term, term, the[the] charity charity is[is] mindful[mindful] of[of][ the] the need[need] to[to] maintain maintain youth youth work work delivery delivery for for its its already already vulnerable vulnerable service service users. users.
