The Constitution is based upon the Model Constitution recommended by the Third Age Trust. The Charity is managed by a Committee organised in accordance with the Constitution. Committee Members are Trustees. New trustees are recruited from our membership and are nominated and appointed at the Annual General Meeting in accordance with the Constitution. OBJECTIVES AND AcfiviTIES To advance the education of the public, in particular, the education of older people no longer in full time gainful ernployrnent in Broxbourne and its surrounding locality. The provision of facilities for leisure time and recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the above persons, in the interest of their social and physical welfare. These objectives are achieved by organising Interest Groups from our membership and currently there are nearly 40 Groups. To mention just a few, they range frorn Art to W<)odturning and include such activities as: Art, Bowls, Creative Writing, Dancing, Family History, French, Gardening, Heritage, Spanish, Scrabble, T'ai Chi, Walks, Woodturning etc.

It is policy to retsin a Minimum of six months Branch Expenses as a reserve. 2 These totals are the aggregate of all transactions of the'interest groups" for the year. 3 Subscriptions in 2024-25 totslled £8.929 and in 2023-24 were £9574. 4 No claim for Gift Aid was made as there were no subscriptions In the relevant year due to Covid 5 Raffle proceeds are used to supplement Branch Income and, net of prizes, totalled £427. 6 Sundry income during the past year has come from Bank compensatlon £300, Balances from closed Groups1£348) Book sales {£162), Advertislng In the Programme (£lOOI, 7 Affillatlon fees Include £2,242 pald to the Thlrd Age Trust on a capltation basis. 8 No new equipment was purchased during the year. 9 The surplus of £4809 is attributsble to a surplus of £1247 for the U3A Branch and an increase of £3562 in total cash balances of individual U3A interest groups. 10 The cash at bank and in hand are unrestricted funds and consist of: 31" March 2025 £12,424 31.
