## **Annual Report to the Charity Commission of Choir2000 for the year ended 31 July 2023**

## **CONSTITUTION:**
The original Constitution was adopted on 16 January 2002 and the organisation was registered by the Charity Commission as a Charity on 7 February 2002. A revised Constitution was adopted at the Annual Meeting on 22 September 2010. A further revised Constitution was adopted at the Annual General Meeting on 28 September 2022 and accepted by the Charity Commission in October 2022.
## **OBJECTS:**
The objects of the Charity as set out in the Constitution are to promote, improve and advance (principally but not exclusively in the local community) public education and appreciation of the art and science of music in all its aspects by the presentation of concerts and recitals and in such other ways as the Charity, through the Executive Committee, shall determine.
## **ACTIVITIES:**
## _December 2022._
Two concert performances of Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” supplemented with a selection of Carols for Choir and Audience. One concert included a guest performance by local choir group – _Women of Note_ . A retiring collection was held in aid of the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
In line with our charitable community activities we sang carols at two local care homes: Bramley Court, Histon on Dec 11th and Arlington Manor, Girton on Dec 14th.
## _March 2023._
Two concert performances of a selection of Opera Choruses and excerpts from The Mikado, conducted by Chloe Allison with two soloists and the Choir2000 Chamber Orchestra. Performed at Histon Baptist Church.
## _May 2023._
The society staged a “Come and Sing” choral day, open to singers from the Cambridge area. The day focused on tuition and performance of Handel’s “Israel in Egypt” – Part One, and was led by guest musical director Andrew Parnell with the Choir2000 Chamber Orchestra.
## _June 2023._
Two concert performances of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”, conducted by Chloe Allison with four soloists and the Choir2000 Chamber Orchestra. Performed at Histon Baptist Church and at West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge.
As per our usual schedule, we ran a small stall at the local Histon Feast event for fun-raising and promotional purposes.
We closed the season with a very well attended social evening for members and friends.

## **ASSETS AND INVESTMENTS:**
The charity's assets at 31 July 2023 were staging, audio equipment, a selection of scores and two CAF bank accounts plus a small holding of petty cash. There are no intentions to make long-term monetary investments. The Charity’s financial aim is to achieve a small surplus of income over the operating costs and event expenditures and to retain sufficient funds to continue operations without income for nominally one year. A copy of the 2022-23 accounts is attached.
