## **GOD'S HOUSE INTERNATIONAL CENTRE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD Reports and Financial Statements Year ended 31ST MARCH 2023 Trustees Report**

## **Statement from the Chairperson**

This year has been incredible for the charity; highlights include a synchronized Spanish and English service, with the Spanish membership having doubled over the second quarter of this year.

Our senior management has taken up prominent roles within the larger Bristol community as chair persons of churches together in Bristol, bolstering our vison of collaborating with other churches for greater community impact. The charity was able to incorporate sabbaticals for our senior management team, opening opportunities for up-and-coming volunteers in other departments to step in and manage our services during the period our senior management team was away on break.

We are incredibly proud of our ever-increasing reputation of being a vibrant multicultural church reaching out to local, national, and international communities. We have managed to retain such a reputation because of our passionate team, and our partnering with local and international organizations with similar aspirations such as Compassion and Tear fund. This is ever so evident this year as our senior pastors have been invited to visit Uganda with Tear Fund.

Our multipurpose building acquired just under two years ago, is continuing to serve our community and beyond. Even with the inherited maintenance issues, we have been able to keep it functional with ongoing improvements. The hall has been made available to the wider community to use for school rehearsals and productions, training, parties, funerals, weddings, and fitness activities on cost recovery basis. We are ever thankful and grateful for answered prayers with regards to heating system repair that has just been fixed, saving us thousands in electricity bills. Other work on refurbishment of some of the other amenities within the building are also progressing well. Our vibrant congregation continues to support the building refurbishments project. I am very pleased of the church and the group of people that are collectively making this happen through giving of their time, skills and financial resources.

As a charity we continue to support the local prison and ex-offenders towards rehabilitation in Bristol, and surrounding communities.

We are also very much involved with the winter night shelter in the city.

On ongoing projects include mentoring youths and guiding them towards sustainable career paths. We do this by holding weekly youth meetings and one youth retreat in a year. This year our youths went to the Midlands for a weeklong retreat.

Our support for women, single mothers and young girls continue under the auspices of Hope for Every Woman and WOW, (Woman of Worth).

We also had a successful joint fun day with our sister charity in Yeovil this summer. Individuals of all ages joined in our activities and shared food and refreshments with us.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the above period.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report:**

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement:**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

* the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

* the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

* the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
