## **Achievements and Performance**

|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|During the year, Casa Valentin continued to<br>welcome Ukrainian refugees and by June<br>had a full house with 26 refugees staying, all<br>of whom were extremely grateful for all the<br>help they received. This meant that it was<br>not possible to welcome any Romanian<br>children for a holiday. It also put a<br>tremendous strain on our staff with all the<br>extra cooking and cleaning. Language was<br>also problematical as it involved translations<br>to and from Ukrainian to English and English<br>to Romanian. Expenses were very high, but<br>fortunately some food was obtained (just in<br>date) from a shop in a nearby town and they<br>received donations from local Romanians.<br>By November it was possible to re-start<br>class visits from two local primary schools<br>with one visit each week. The educational<br>authorities and local villagers were glad that<br>we were able to continue with this<br>programme.<br>During the spring it was possible for the staff<br>to concentrate on the local children with the<br>Social Programme group really enjoying<br>everything they do at Casa Valentin. The<br>school visits also continued.<br>We are grateful to our supporters who, by<br>their giving, have allowed Casa Valentin to<br>become such a blessing to Romanians and<br>Ukrainians alike during therecent crises.|
