The Trustees presenl their annual report together the financial statements of the Merseyside Transport
Trust for the 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. The Annual Teport seNes the pUry￿ses of both a Trustees, report
and a directors, report under cornpany law. The Trustees confirm that the Annual report and financial statements
of the charitable company comply with the current statutory requirements. the requirements of the charitable
compansls governing document and thè provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice <SORP)
applicable to charitie5 preparing their accounts in accordance with the Flnancial Reporting Standard applicable in
the UK and Republlc of Ireland (FRS102) (effective 1 January 2019).
Since the Charity qualifies as smatl under section 382 of the Companie5 Act 2006. the Strategic report required
of medium and large companles under the Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Directors, Report)
Regulations 2013 has been ornitted.

In setting objectives and planning for activities, the Trustees have given due consideratlon to general guidance
published by the Charity Commission relatin9 to public benefrt, including the guidanc8 'Public benefit: running a
charlty (P82)'.

The Trust has organised and delivered several events designed to showcase th8 Trusvs collection to the general
public which provide 8 supplementary income 8tream to BUPPOrt the ongoing maintenance and restoration of
V8hide8 in the collectlon.

In additlon to the organlsed events detalled in the °Revlaw of Activitles. sectlon below, the Trust has provided
skills developmenl opportunities for volunteers actively V￿rkIng (under supervision) on restoration and
maintanance of the Trust's vehicles at its 8urscough b85e.
Achlevernents and perfomiance
R•vlew of actlvitles
The Trust Ofganlsed 3 rnaln ac16vllles durlng ihe year whlch helped wlth our fund ralslng. In Aprll, 8 8eer and
Buses Running Day was held and this was followed in July by the Burscough Open Day. Whilst Seplember saw
the relum of the ever popular Llverpool Running Day. Fund raising was also undertaken from the MTT stall and
from providtng our vehides in support ol other events.
• Fundrnlslng activities and income generation
Membershlp subscriptlons and particularly donatlons from Members and Frlends of the Trust were augmented
by donations and sales arising direclly from the thr8e events organised during the year. Further rental incorne
as received from individu81 vehicle owners and the 502 gTOUP,
• Investment pollGy and perfonnance
The Trustees operate wrthin the goveming document. the Memorandum and Articles of Associaticfft having
regards to the guidance provided by th8 Charitles Commission and in accordance with the Trustees Act 2000.

After making appropriate enquiries, the Trusleos have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate
resources to continue in operallonal existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue lo adopt
the going concem basis In preparing the financial sktements. Further details regarding the adoptlon of the golng
concem basis can be found in the accounting policies.
• Reserves policy
The Tfustees have reviewed the charltys requlrement for reserves. The Tnjst has a slgnttlc8nt number of
vehides awaiting restoration as w61186 an overriding requirement to keep the entire collection in a secure, saf8
vndercover storage. In the longer term thls requirement would be best met by acqulring a suFlable freehold
storage site as opposed lo Ihe current rented premises. Having reg8rd to these matters Ihe Trustees believe the
current level of resenies to be adequate,, the inlentlon over the medium to long tem will be progressively to
augment them.

Merseyslde Transport Trust Is registered as a charitsble company limlted by guaranteb and was set up by a
Memorandum of Association.
• Methods of appolntfflent or electlon of Trustee•
The management of the Charity is the responsibl￿'ty of the Trustees who are elected and COwOPted under the
terni8 of the Memorandum of Asscciatlon.
• Organlsatlonal strudure and declslonamaklng pollcles
The Trust benefits from a 'flal' organisational structure. Declsion making is a straightforward process- there are
no sU￿¢0MmIttee$ or management committee. The Truslees typically meet on a monthly basis andlor as
required and receive reports from the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretsry. The Treasurer also circulates a
monthly financial report electronlcally independent of Truslees. meetings.

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Charity is exposed, in particular those related to the
operations and finances of the Charity, and are satlsfied that systems anfj procedures are In place to mltigats
exposure to the major risks.
Statement of Trustoe•' r••pon$lbilities
The Trustees (who are also the directors of the Charity for the purposes of company law) are responsible for
preparing the Trustees, report and the financial slaternents in accordance with applicable law and United
Klngdom Accountlng Stsndards (Unlted Klngdom Generally Accepted AGGountlng Pracllce).
Company law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financSal Under company law, the
Trustees must not approve Ihe financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of
the slate of affairs of the Charity and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including its income
and expenditure, for that Period. In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to..
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently:
observe the methods and principles of the Charities SORP (FRS 102);
make judgments and accountlng estimates thal are reasonable and prudent.,
state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards (FRS 102) have been followed, subject to any materlal
departures dlsclosed and explained In the finanGlal statements;
prepare the financial slatements on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that tho
Charity will continue in business.
The Trustees are responslble for keeping adequate accountlng records that are sufficient to show and explaln
the Charitys transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any lime the financial posilion of the Charity
and enable them to ensure thal the fin8nci81 st8lemenls comply with the Companies Acl 2006. They are also
responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the preventlon
and detectlon of fraud and other irregularities.

I report to the charity Trustees on my examina￿On of the accounts of Ihe Charlty for the year ended 31 March
2024.
RESPONSIBILrriES AND BASIS OF REPORT
As Ihe Trustees of the Charity (and it$ directors for the purposes of company law) you are responslble for the
preparation of the accounts in 8¢cordan¢e with the requirements ot the Companies Act 2006 {'the 2006 Act,).
Having satlsfied rnyself that the accounts of the Chartty are not required to be audited und6r Part 16 of the 2006
Act and are ellgible for independent examlnation. I report In respect of my 8xaminallon ol the Charivs accounts
carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 I'the 2011 Acl,). In carrying out my examination I have
followed the Dlrectlons given by the Char5ty Comm15sion under seclion 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The tharfty Is a ￿rnpanY Ilmlted by guarantee. The members of the company are the Truslees named on
page 1. In tha évent of the charity being wound up, the liability in respect of the guarantee is limited to £10
per Member of th charity.
ACCOUNTING POLICIES
2.1 Basls ol preparatlon ol flftanclal Btatements
The financial ststernents h8ve been prepared in accordance wlth the Charities SORP (FRS 102)
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charltles
preparing their accounts in accordance wth the Flnancial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republ1¢ of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019), the Financial Reporting Stsndard
appF6cable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
Merseyside Trensport Trust rneets the definition of a public benefit enlity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initialty recognised at historical cost or transaction valu8 unless oth8Nil$e stsled in the
relevant accountlng pollcy.
2.2 Incom•
All Income 16 re¢ognised once Ihe Charity has entltlement to the Income. it is probable that tha
Sncome wlll be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured rellably.
Income tax recoverable In relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant Is
recognlsed at the tirne of the donation.
Income tax fecoverable In relatlon to Investment Income Is recognlsed at the Ilme the Investment
Income Is recelvable.
Other income is recognised in the period in vthich it is receivable and to the extent the goods have
been provided or on completlon of the setvice.
2.3 Exp•ndltur•
Expenditure Is recognised once there Is a legal or constructlve obligatlon to transfer economic benefit
to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and
the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure Is classified by adivlty. The costs
of each actlvity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared costs, Including support costs
invofved in undertsking each activity. Direcl costs attrlbutable to a single activity are allocated directly
to that aclivity. Shared costs thich contfibute to more than one activity and support costs whiGh are
nol attributable to a single activity are apportioned between those activities on a basis consistent with
the use of resources.
Expenditure on charitable aciivities is incurred on dlrectty undertaking the activities which further the
Charitys objectives, as well as any assoclated support costs.
All expenditure is incluslve of irrecoverable VAT.
2.4 Interest recelvable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included vthen receivable and the amount can be measured
reliably by the Chartty: thls is nonnally upon notlfication of Ihe inlerest pald or payable by the
institution with whom the funds are deposited.

Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short-term highly liouid Investments with a short maturity
of three months or less from the date of acquisition or openino ol the deposit or similar account.

Llabllitles are re¢ognlsed when there Is an obligatlon at the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
evenl. it is probable that a transfer of economic ben8llt wlll be required in settlement, and the arnount
of the settlement can be estimated reliabty.
Liakn'lities are recognised at the amount that the Charity antiCiP8tes it will pay to setde the debt or the
amount It has recelved as advanced payments for the goods or servlces It must provlde.
Piovislons are measured at the best estirnale of the amounts required lo settle the obllgatlon. Where
the effect of the tlme value ol money is materlal, the provision is based on the present value of those
amounts. discounted al the pre-tax discount rate Ihal rellects the risks specific lo the liabilrty. The
unwlnding of the dlscount Is recognised In the Statement of flnanclal aclivllles as a flnance cost.
2.8 Flnan¢lal In3truments
The Charity only has financial assets and flnancial Ilabillties of a klnd that qualty as bastc flnancial
Instruments. Basic finandal instruments are initlally reco9nised 8t transaction value and subsequently
measured at Iheir settlement value with the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured at amortiS8d cost uslng the effectlve interest method.
2.9 Fund accountlng
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of Ihe Chartty and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
Restricted funds are lunds which are to be used In accordance with speclfic restrrcti¢MS imposed by
donors or which have been raised by the Charity for particular purposes. The costs of raislng and
administering such funds are thar9ed 89ainst the specthc fund. Restricted funds provided by iwo
donors are allocaled to the restoration and upkeep of two specific vehicles, A801 and A40.
