Trustees’ Annual Report Crawley Down Monday Club For the year ended 31 March 2025

Structure, Governance and Management

The Crawley Down Monday Club is governed by a constitution and managed by an Executive Committee comprising Honorary Officers, including the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, together with elected committee members.

Committee members may also co-opt individuals with relevant experience or specialist knowledge of the needs of older people. All committee members serve in a voluntary capacity.

The Committee meets regularly to oversee the activities and financial management of the Club.

Objects and Activities

The object of the Club is the relief of elderly people within the Crawley Down, Copthorne and Turners Hill areas by providing facilities for recreation and leisure, with the aim of improving their conditions of life.

In furtherance of these objects, the Club provides regular social meetings and activities for members aged 60 and over.

Public Benefit

The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. The Club’s activities are directed towards older people in the local community and are designed to reduce social isolation, promote wellbeing, and provide opportunities for social interaction and gentle physical activity.

The trustees consider the financial position of the Club to be satisfactory and sufficient to support ongoing activities.

The accounts have been independently examined in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act.

Reserves Policy

The trustees aim to maintain a reasonable level of reserves to ensure the continued operation of the Club and to meet unforeseen costs, while ensuring that funds are used for the benefit of members.

to the Trustees of Crawley Down Monday Club

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Crawley Down Monday Club for the year ended 31 March 2025.

Responsibilities and Basis of Report

As the charity’s trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011.

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 and, in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

I have examined the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2025. The examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.

Examiner’s Conclusion

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011; and

  3. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act 2011 have not been met; or

  4. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
