Our community supporters, fundraisers and partners - We couldn’t do the work we do without your support:

I continue to be astounded by the resilience of our community and the determination to remain positive, help others and give back what they can to others. This has been increasingly evident over the past year with the commitment of our wonderful volunteers and their desire to put their hand up to help whenever there is a need.

The impact of Covid-19 on our community saw the relocation of the Food Bank into the Tin Hat Centre. This was not something we had anticipated but knew we had to commit to, ensuring the retention of this valuable resource. Through a true community effort this was actioned and the Food Bank opened in October. Thanks to local Schools, Churches, Cllr David Martin, Kirkby Rotary, Gillotts, TEAM Fitness, NCC, Sainsbury’s, volunteers and the community for keeping the Food Bank fully stocked and organised.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the National Lottery Community fund for extending their support for our Collective, Community, Cuisine Project allowing us to support our community throughout the pandemic and awarding a further four years CAFÉ funding. This will allow us to build services back to pre-pandemic levels, adapt and move forward towards sustainability once again.

The diversity in our workshops continues to attract a broad range of people to the Centre and is an exciting way for us to engage with our community. Funding received from the Co-op Community Fund has been paramount in achieving this outcome. All community groups have now returned and we are thrilled to welcome new additions, the unwavering support of these groups has helped us to withstand the challenging year and given us plenty to smile about.

The community library, run entirely by volunteers, has adapted throughout the pandemic to work in all tiers and is now working towards providing a full service with public computer access being reinstated shortly. Citizens Advice continue to provide a weekly outreach service.

On behalf of everyone involved with the Centre I wish to give my thanks to all of our funders. This support has ensured we are able to continue on our journey, adapt and build on our services.

My thanks also go to the Trustees for their ongoing support and staff for all their combined efforts in making the Centre a superb hub enjoyed by so many different and diverse community and business organisations.

Treasurer’s report for Annual Report

Well, what a year 1st April 2020 - 31st March 2021 was!

I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to all the staff, volunteers and supporters of the Tin Hat; you have all supported your community throughout the pandemic at a time when people needed you most.

It was during this time that I saw The Tin Hat really come into its own, being able to adapt to needs in a crisis.

During 2020/21 the main focus was to keep the Tin Hat accessible in some form during all the peaks and troughs of the lockdowns, a priority was job protection and thankfully we were able to gain some support through the furlough scheme. Paulette has continually kept a keen eye out for support via various grants and funding to ensure we could keep operating and supporting the community.

I won’t bore you with all the figures, but if you are interested in that sort of thing then there’s plenty of reading to be had in the annual accounts. Overall, the Tin Hat ended 2020/21 in the best financial position we could have hoped for:

Moving forward, the Tin Hat is now in a position to grow and expand its outreach, and is just starting a 4-year initiative to enable the community café to become sustainable.

Community is at the heart of all the Tin Hat does, so identifying areas of need and seeking funding opportunities will continue to be a priority.

Again, a big THANK-YOU to you all
