Our choir for Breast Cancer Patients is now over 7 years old, this group is facilitated Support
Workers (who volunteer part of their time), a professional singing coach and it is over seen by
Pop Voices. This group continues to meet on a weekly basis in term time in the evening for 2
hours and has been a huge success. This group is attended by breast cancer patients who
have already been treated or newly been diagnosed with breast cancer.
This Choir has proved to be a huge success and continues to act as a much-needed support
group where like-minded people can come together and forget all their worries for a couple of
hours with the joy of singing and we will continue to find funding in 202312024 so that this choirl
support group will continue. Highlight for the choir was being asked to sing again at Birmingham
Symphony Hall in July 2024 with 500 others from Pop Voices.

Breast Mates Support Group
In 2020, we established Breast Mates Central, a dedicated support group aimed at offering both
online and in-person support to individuals affected by breast cancer. We provide a combination
of virtual gatherings and face-to-face meetings, alongside one-on-one support sessions forthose
who book appointments with our Support Workers.
Our Support Workers, all of whom are breast cancer survivors, offer valuable emotional support,
share their personal experiences, and provide guidance to individuals who are newly diagnosed,
undergoing re-diagnosis, or facing isolation due to treatments and government restrictions.
Currently, our community includes over 786 members. We continue to offer Zoom support
meetings, alongside at least one in-person gatherings weekly meetings. These face-to-face
sessions are hosted at local garden centres and coffee shops located on opposite sides of the
city, ensuring accessibility for those who can travel and wish to connect in person.
Together, these virtual and in-person meetings allow us to maintain a weekly support offering.
In addition to regular support meetings, we organize a variety of activities for members. such as
crafting sessions (including card making, wreaths, and cake decorating), cooking
demonstrations, and Look Good Feel Better workshops. We also host spiritual evenings, social
gatherings, and an annual Christmas party. These events have become a vital source of
connection and comfort for the community.

Soft Services
We identified that post-mastectomy bra fittings remain a vital aspect of support for our
patients. A properly fitted bra or prosthesis plays a key role in enhancing mental
wellbeing during an emotionally and physically challenging period.. To ensure
accessibility, we provided "Bra-saries"
free of charge to the patient
with each
individual visit, fitting, and supply of a properly fitted bralprosthesis amounting to £110.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback reinforced the value of this service in supporting
patients, mental health during such vulnerable times. We also provide support on request
for wig serVI￿S for those in need.
Hug-in-a-bag scheme
Attending your first chemotherapy or radiotherapy session can be extremely daunting.
Especially if you must attend alone. That's why we have created our 'Hug-in-a-bag' initiative.
We wanted to create a useful, practical resource which would provide everything a patient might
need during these aggressive. yet critically important treatments.
The bags contain 'common sense, items such as a water bottle, moisturiser and a good book. It
also contains less 'obvious items, including a blanket (as the treatments can impact body
temperature dramatically) hat and gloves and a dark nail varnish (to hide the discoloration that
the treatments can trigger).
From August 2023 - August 2024, we have provided over 1262 bags at a cost to the charity of
£45 each. These bags were donated free of charge.

Our Future Plans
Fundraising efforts by third party supporters continues to be slow. As a result, as a Charity we
continue to explore new opportunities to attract new supporters and tap into new opportunities
to fund raise and continue to be sustainable going forward.
As we have now successfully expanded our Hugs in a Bag offering to a significantly greater
number of hospitals (and by extension a greater number of breast cancer patient) our aim is to
expand the support services to a wider group of people across the areas that we are now
reaching with our bags. This includes bringing in more Support Workers to ensure that the
support being provided to a greater number of individuals does not decrease.

The main objective for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer has always been to raise
awareness of breast cancer in our area of support and to make sure people know what
the signs are they need to be looking out for. We are also determined to promote
awareness in all our diverse and ethnic communities. Also, if they are called up for a
mammogram appointment, we make sure that they fully understand the importance of
attending their appointments as early detection saves lives. This continues to be our
main objective to ensure early diagnosis.
Within our fundraising strategy we continue to seek ongoing Corporate Sponsorship and
Grant funding. The Corporate Sponsorship is a key aim of ours, as not only does it assist
with financial support, but it promotes community engagement with the Charity.
We do receive assistance with funding from the National Lottery to enable the
progression of the Charity. Given the uptake in our services and the increased demand
year on year, it has been necessary to bring on more paid employees and consultants,
to ensure that we are meeting the demand and putting the structures in place to support
the financial viability of Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer for many years to come.
We will continue to strive, to provide support to our local cornrnunity, and to ensure that
no one feels alone on their breast cancer journey.

Impairment of fixed assets
A review for indicators of impairment is carried out at each reporting date, with the recoverable amount
being estimated where such indicators exist. Where the carrying value exceeds the recoverable
amount, the asset is impaired accordingly. Prior impairments are also reviewed for possible reversal
at each reporting date.
For the purposes of impairment testing, when it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of
an individual asset, an estimate is made of the recoverable amount of the cash- generating unit to
which the asset belongs. The cash-generating unit is the smallest identifiable group of assets that
includes the asset and generates cash inflows that largely independent of the cash inflows from other
assets or groups of assets.
For impairment testing of goodwill, the goodwill acquired in a business combination is, from the
acquisition date, allocated to each of the cash-generating units that are expected to benefit from the
synergies of the combination, irrespective of whether other assets or liabilities of the charity are
assigned to those units.
