ANNUAL REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 15 OCTOBER 2023
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
This financial year we struggled to get as many consistent volunteers as we would have liked. We continued to open the drop-in every Wednesday evening and also on a Saturday evening. We started a Farsi group for the Iranian people that meet Tuesday fortnightly for food and fellowship.
We started meeting every Thursday evening for prayer and to discuss the Word. Once a month this was open to any church leader who might like to join us to pray for our community which has drug and alcohol problems. The drop-in was open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a hot meal and friendship. Every Thursday it opened to the Asylum seekers, who all received a food parcel and enjoyed the singing. The charity shop opened each Monday, Wednesday and Friday and we continued to receive many donations. On Thursday afternoons we held an English class from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. We also started a craft group, which was enjoyed by many. We started renting the upstairs one bedroom flat, as our office.
We are profoundly grateful to every volunteer who selflessly dedicates their time and effort to support our cause. Your hard work and commitment are the backbone of our organization, enabling us to reach out and make a real difference in the lives of those in need. We also extend our deepest thanks to everyone who donates, whether it be funds, resources, or even just a word of encouragement. Your generosity sustains our mission and helps us continue our vital work. May God bless each and every one of you for your kindness and unwavering support. Together, we are making the world a better place, one step at a time.
RESULTS FOR 2023
Income – Overall decrease over previous year when a legacy was received.
Expenditure – Overall increase over previous year, this was mainly due to increases in food and office costs on the previous year.
The Rainbow of Hope Centre is located at 23-25 Broadway, Roath, Cardiff CF24 1QE.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES
OF THE RAINBOW OF HOPE/PARADISE RUN
I report on the accounts of the Rainbow of Hope (charity number 1088856) for the year ended 15 October 2023 which are set out in page 4.
Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011, and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under 145 of the 2011 Charities Act;
-
to follow the procedure laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under the section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Charities Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner's Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of accounts presented with those records, and seeking explanation from trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent Examiner's Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Charities Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the account requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or
-
to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the Financial Statements to be reached.
