Further benefit the residents of Longford, and the surrounding areas of Orford. Without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race, or political, religious or other opinions by associating together. That said working with residents, local authorities and voluntary organisations in a common effort to advance education. To provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure. With the aim of improving the conditions of life to local residents. Original statement by former manager.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objectives:
During 2023/2024 we were still dealing with the impact the cost-of-living crisis and trying to support staff, volunteers, customers and residents, in the best possible way that we could. We continued to run a Healthy Neighbours Project to improve Health and Well-being of residents within a deprived area local to deliver initiatives rto make the community healthier . We were able to re-open the community café, train staff to food hygiene level 2, the community are supporting the café and despite the challenges of the cost of living, we are offering affordable food still as we don’t want this to be a barrier to people accessing support and we aim to reduce social isolation. We have continued to run community trips and events and create a positive safe space.
Addldetails details of objectives and activities (Optional information)
The governance, fundraising, funding and maintaining the centre. The charity as historically run by volunteers and the trustees have been advised to look at how they can make the charity sustainable in the future including to gain funding or a full-time charity Manager and staff for the community café. To also address the bank accounts and making it more digital and modern. Volunteers give over 100 a week of dedication to the centre and some have supported the centre for over twenty years. Some of the volunteers are older and having their own health and other issues. We need to look at how the charity can attract skilled volunteers to help with the cafe and groups and trustees that can bring skills to support the needs of the charity.
