Note * I am sorry there has been delays with updating these accounts and reports due to various reasons including not being able to access the charity commission online portal and not receiving access codes till April 2024. I had tried from January 2024 and sent emails too and spoke directly to The Charity Commission; when I was able login by April 2024, I didn’t realise that we needed the new independent report for the accounts. I then tried from April to get an accountant to do this and was unable to secure one. I also ended up needing an emergency spinal operation in July and was off work for a long period of time. I was still trying to secure an accountant at that time, and this was unsuccessful. I have recommended that trustees hire their own accountant going forward to help with accounts and reporting. The charity is also in the process of recruiting some new trustees. Amanda Gillespie

## **Section C Objectives and activities**

Further benefit the residents of Longford, and the surrounding areas of Orford. Without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race, or political, religious or other opinions by associating together. That said working with residents, local authorities and voluntary organisations in a common effort to advance education. To provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure. With the aim of improving the conditions of life to local residents. Original statement by former manager.

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objectives:**

During 2022/23 we were still dealing with the impact of the Covid19 pandemic plus the cost-of-living crisis and trying to support staff, volunteers, customers and residents, in the best possible way that we could. We won a Tender or a housing association that brought extra funding into the Charity, to run a Healthy Neighbours Project to improve Health and Wellbeing of residents within a deprived area local to the charity. We also concluded the successful This Girl Can funded project, that engaged a large number of women to engage in activity and develop self-esteem and have fun too.

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)**

governance, fundraising, funding and maintaining the centre. The charity as historically run by volunteers and the trustees have been advised to look at how they can make the charity sustainable in the future including to gain funding or a full-time charity Manager and staff for the community café. To also address the bank accounts and making it more digital and modern. Volunteers give over 100 a week of dedication to the centre and some have supported the centre for over twenty years. Some of the volunteers are older and having their own health and other issues. We need to look at how the charity can attract skilled volunteers to help with the cafe and groups and trustees that can bring skills to support the needs of the charity.

## **Section E Financial review**

## **reserves £13,500**

## **Details of any funds materially in deficit n/a**
