The trustees are pleased to present their report and  accounts for the year to 31st Dec 

## **Objects of the charity** 

The objects of the charity are to assist, including by raising funds, in the conservation development of the church buildings, fixtures, fittings, contents and churchyard of St M church, Standon; to assist in the maintenance of the churchyard and to encourage and all that is done to add to the beauty and usefulness of the church. 

The charity fulfils these objects by raising funds to support works commissioned by the Details of projects funded during the year can be found in the notes to the accounts. 

## **Government** 

The policy and operating decisions of the charity rest with the Trustees, who meet regu to monitor the activities of the Friends. 

Six of the trustees are appointed by Standon Parochial Church Council, and six are elec the annual meeting.  The chairman must be a publically elected trustee. 

## **Review of Activities** 

In 2021, as in 2020, the national Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdowns made very difficult. Restrictions were lifted in time for our Open Gardens event, postponed to People were glad to come to an outdoor (therefore relatively 'safe') event and our loca did a wonderful job of welcoming them. Lunches and teas were served in a Covid comp we raised a record amount. The plants sale team was able to mount sales in March and significant sums at events which have become 'looked for' points in the gardening yea supper, also outdoors, was well supported and by the autumn we were able to hold ou concerts in the church, and we added an Advent coffee morning and sale to our calend was very successful, and we will add it to our list of regular events. Once more, some o donors chose to divert their donations to more urgent needs this year, and general don were significantly lower than usual. A fund-raising effort was launched in late 2020 to r sums necessary to clean and refurbish the two  Sadleir tombs in the church, and mone that project has been set aside in a restricted fund. £20,229 was received in 2021 for t plus gift aid tax of £335 from previous years' donations. £20,890 has been granted to t for the refurbishment. The balance on that fund at the end of December was £1,162. In addition, we raised a net unrestricted sum of £16,136 from fundraising activities in 2 

In planning our activities, the trustees have applied the guidance on public benefit issu the Charity Commission in December 2008. 

## **Trustees' Responsibilities** 

Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each accounting y record the receipts and payments of the charity for the year. 

We are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonab accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity, and enable us to ensure that statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. 

We also have a responsibility to safeguard the assets of the charity and to take reason to prevent fraud or any other irregularities.

During the year, grants were made to Standon PCC  totalling £20,890 for the res of the Sadleir tombs.
