Chairman’s Report Stirring of the Water Ministries for year 2021 - 2022

11th June 2022

The Old Carpenters Shop Islington Wharf, Penryn Cornwall, TR10 8AT enquiries@stirringofthewater.org.uk tel: 01326 376818 www.stirringofthewater.org.uk facebook.com/stirringofthewater registered charity number: 1088298

Affiliations, Aims and Purposes

The charity is affiliated to Harvest Alliance, a global network of Christian Churches and Ministries. It is also an active member of Falmouth & Penryn Churches Together, which is part of Churches Together in Cornwall. The charity aims to promote and contribute to the advancement of the Christian faith and support other charities who have the same aims.

Activities

The charity is committed to enabling as many people as possible to experience Christian worship, prayer and teaching as well as spreading the ‘Good News’ of Jesus to the people of Falmouth and Penryn. It is also currently supporting Christian work in Kenya, Uganda, Israel and Ukraine.

Achievements and Performance

The Covid pandemic severely restricted our activities over the past two years, especially our ability to meet together. Following the pandemic we have found that some people are still reluctant to engage in face-to-face gatherings. This is having a significant effect on the ongoing donations we are receiving, and in the past year we have seen a further reduction in giving by almost 20%.

However, the charity has been able to significantly reduced its outgoings by sharing it’s premises with another Christian charity, Falmouth Vineyard Church. Contributions from Vineyard have enabled the charity to continue to fulfil its charitable obligations at a level comparable to previous years.

We continued to support the work of Falmouth Vineyard Church by allowing them use of our facilities. This has significant benefits for both organisations. Falmouth Vineyard now have a secure base from which to operate their work in the communities of Falmouth and Penryn. Stirring of the Water Ministries benefit from the reduction of overheads.

In 2021-2022 funds were utilised to meet the needs of disadvantaged amongst us, in Kenya (educational and evangelistic support as well as providing a clean water bore-hole) , Uganda (church construction) , in Ukraine (humanitarian aid for war victims) , and Israel (support for Holocaust survivors and their families, and traumatised children) . We continued to maintain a Christian meeting centre in Cornwall.

Public Benefit

The trustees believe that public benefit has been provided by making available as much as possible, regular public worship, training and church events open to all, personal prayer and fellowship, whether in person or via the internet. Regular mission work in the centre of Falmouth has continued, twice each month whenever possible; along with supporting other local Christian church groups and the work they do in the community.
