Please 3tcept this letter as a Summary of the Trustee's Report for 2020 actlvity for Langland
Bay Llfeguard Club, Run entirely by its members, who are tll volunteer5 and receive no
payment for the work they do, the Club's primary purpose Is to provide aquatic based
lifesavlng and first aid training lo its members acros5 a range of ages from 7yrs to 60+. In
additign, the Club provides opportunitie5 for members to compete against other Surf
Llfesaving Clubs to hone their skills, build on their fitness levels, and have fun! The Club ¢5
split into 4 Sections
Nippers, Jk5niors, Seniors and Master5. Club activities take place at
Langland Bay in the summer months Ifrom the start of May to end of September) and at a
local swimming pool in the winter month515eptember to end of April). An overview of each
section along with achievements for 2020 aTe as follows.
Aimed at 7-12-year-ol¢Js, the Nlpper section of the Club exists to provide children with the
fundamental skills and knowledge of how to stay S3fe in or around the water, and also
teaches them basic rescue skills so they ¢an help others. Children are agelability banded in
order to provide progressive tr8ininÈ through the groups.

Every actlve member within the Nipper age group achieved 'surf competence level

competition, and 4th out of 17 clubs In the tspen water Ibeach-basedl competitlon

The junior section builds on the fund3mental 5ki115 learnt during Nippers. Members at thi5
level will train for intermediate First Aid and Lifesaving qualific3tlCn5, which lead onto the
opportunity to work towards obtaining their National Vocational Beach Lifeguard
Qu31ification INVBLQ). This is an industry standard award which is the pre-requisite for
employment 35 a beach Ilfeguard across the UK.

Seniors & Masters
There are various vot3tlon31 aw3rds and training opportunitie5 available to Senior5, for
example Rescue Boat Tralning and other specialist first aid and lifesaving qualifications,
which Serve either as a pre-requisite for employment or as evidence of extra-currlcular
activities for CV'5.

In 2020 the club came 6th place out of 19 clubs at the Surf Lifesaving Wales Stillwater (pool-
based) Ilfesaving competltion, and came 4th out of 16 clubs at the oceèn-ba5ed lifesaving
competitlon.
Other Club actlvltles and achlevements
As ? volunteer-based organisation we rely on the 5UPPDrt of our members to asslst with the
day tts day running of the club, from training delivery to fundTais*ng activities to
malntenance of our building and equipment. In 2020 we had 36 DBS-checked parent
helpers providing support to our age group trainers, particularly our younger members. Our
fundraising team struggled to raise money from fundraising actwitie5 due to ihe Covid 19
outbreak in the UK.
In addition to provldlng Èctivities for our membeis the Club also support5 Other local
tommunity groups and charities. We have allowed access to our training facility for

meetinE5 and event5, a5 well a5 providing basic life 5UPPQrt and first aid training for free to
cgmmunity 8ioups although this became very restricted as the year pro8re55ed.

Icontextualised for our environment) for all parent helpers, and deliver safeguarding
refresher training for all coaches and trainers
Continue to provide a safe and welcoming envlronment for our young people, in
order to help them learn, develop and glow as individuals.

The Iruslees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charily's trustees consider
that an audit is not required for the year under section 144121 of the Charities Act 2011 Ilhe 2011
Acll and that an independent examination is needed.

Basis of Independent Examiner's Report
My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with the General Direction5 given by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity

any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts. and the seeking of explanations from you as
trustees concerning any such matters. The pr￿edureS undertaken do not provide all the
