## **Parish Council Chair’s Annual Report**
After 23 years of amazing service, Les Pole decided to step down as Parish Councillor. To celebrate and to thank Les, we have dedicated a bench on the side line of the football pitch, a place Les often frequents to support our own Woodhouse Imperial Football Team. In June, the Parish Council supported The Platinum Jubilee Event on Herrick Green which raised funds for a commemorative bench to be installed on the Green. The Parish Council also commissioned a commemorative plaque to celebrate the 70 years of devoted service by the Queen Elizabeth II.
A short time later, with great sadness we saw the death of Queen Elizabeth II. As Parish Chair, I read the proclamation at the war memorial which was well attended. A book of condolence was also available for Parishioners to pay their respects.
As you drive carefully through Old Woodhouse, you may notice the changes to the grass verge next to the Community Hall. This area has now been committed to a new biodiversity re-wilding scheme, made up of 43 species of flowers, grasses and shrubs with even sewn with some of the seeds from Johnson’s Meadow.
We were delighted to welcome Finding Fitness to the Parish for three weeks over the school holidays. This Children’s Fitness Holiday Club was free to attend for local children and was popular and enjoyed by all. Funding was generously provided by the National Lottery following a grant application by the Parish Council.
The Parish Council are making encouraging progress working with Quorn Parish Council with regards to improving the bridleway between Quorn and Woodhouse. We are hoping to get the bridleway improvements completed before the end of 2023.
In November the Council took steps to replace the weathered, and barely legible, blue war memorial sign with a slate plaque description mounted on a new stone plinth. Hopefully you enjoyed our new Christmas decorations outside the village hall this year! We are hoping to enhance the display with additional lights and decorations every year, to ultimately create a tasteful and memorable display.
Along with the Clerk & RFO, I was invited to look around Garats Hay, formally known as Welbeck 6th Form Defence College, before Christmas. Currently, MOD Garats Hay is being used for police & military training, conferences, sporting events and classroom learning.
The first Park Run was held at Beacon Hill in February; the Parish Council was pleased to provide a significant grant to help set this up. I’m sure this will be a long standing popular weekly event. Since beginning of January, we have been running a Winter Warmer event and would like to thank the WI and Good Neighbours Scheme volunteers for the support and time they have given this. The events have really proven to be very worthwhile and it has been good to see lots of different faces attending. We are going to continue hosting this event and it is to be called Chatty Tuesday.
On staffing matters we would like to give a warm welcome to our new member of staff, Alan Gardiner. Alan has taken up a new part time role of Facilities Officer to oversee the day to day management of all physical facilities on the charity land. Finally, I would like to thank our Borough Councillor, David Snartt and our District Councillor, Deborah Taylor for their hard work and commitment regularly attending Parish Meetings, providing valuable advice and support. I’d also like to thank the Parish Councillors, staff and parish volunteers for all their support over the past 12 months.
## **King George’s Field Charity**
It’s been an exciting year for the Charity as long standing projects gather momentum. The Annexe building closed its doors on 1st September and was demolished in December and January. The Parish Council, Woodhouse Eaves Scouts and vital community volunteers have worked tirelessly towards replacing the Annexe with a fantastic new Scout & Youth Community Hall. As I write this, building works are starting to take shape. The new hall has been designed specially to accommodate energetic play for the youth of the parish and fun indoor sports. We hope that the hall will be up and running by the end of August and look forward to welcoming the Scouts back to the village. Our close-knit team of volunteers have raised an astonishing £418,000 towards the project including £70,000 from the Parish Council, in part made possible by a loan for £50,000. With much still to do, fundraising is key, we are now hoping to raise enough funds to create an amazing village green and community garden for outdoor village events and gatherings.
We have cleared some overgrown areas around the grounds, especially by the tennis courts in readiness for the reshaped play area. We have also cleared an area by the school permissive path to accommodate a temporary container for the Scouts to store their belongings.
We were very pleased to be able to accommodate all of our regular users by rehousing them into the Village Hall and the newly painted King George V Room.
To save time for staff and boost bookings and usage we have now launched a 360° smart video tour of all the halls which can be found on our website.
After a recent period of uncertainty, we are pleased to welcome Woodhouse Eaves Cricket Club back to our ground for the next season. We wish them every success for a thriving season and encourage locals to stroll down and enjoy the sporting spectacle on our doorstep.
Finally, we are also looking at revamping the Pavilion with improved facilities for greater community use. We hope to create more storage so we can really open up the pavilion and make it a busy centre for sports, family & community use.

## **Annual Financial Report 2022/23**
These figures are to 22nd February 2023, 37 days before year end 31st March 2023. The current combined bank balance is £219694, with approximately £185000 allocated to the Scout & Youth Community Hall development project.
To date, £128061 has been spent on this project, with £243,285 in donations received. Excluding this project, overall combined expenditure is roughly the same as last year £128,000.
Income for the 3 halls is £35,000 at present, however this will increase as there are hall letting invoices due to be paid before year end.

## 2. **DEBTS OUTSTANDING**
At year-end, a VAT refund of £8348.19 is due.

As at 31 March 2023 there were no funds used for advertising and publicity.

£124,124 will be spent on new hall development project.

No current leases in operation.
## 9. **TENANCIES** The tenancy agreement was renewed for the rental of the Village Hall House from 25[th] September 2022 at £1030 per month.
## 10. **AGENCY WORK**
The Council has undertaken no agency work on behalf of other authorities.
11. **PENSIONS** – paid by Woodhouse Parish Council.
12. **CONTINGENT LIABILITIES -** There are no liabilities other than those referred to under the heading ‘Creditors’.

## **Re: Internal Audit for Woodhouse Eaves Parish Council & King George’s Field Charity**
I have now completed the internal audit as of the 31[st] March 2023. All accounting documentation and supporting records were complete and in order. I did however make note that the ‘business top up card’ balance should be shown in the accounts as an asset as in effect the money held on this is still an asset and has not yet been spent, only transferred from one account to another. Emily as RFO will look into adding this to the balance sheet.
