Achievements and Perfomunce
The Trustee5 app￿Ved new grant expenditure during the year of £151,192 (2024. £96.208}.

The largest grant in this peri¢xl was £S0.000 awarded to Penfold Church Hall Trustees for structural work to the
building and extensive redecoration of common areas to ensure the hall can Continue to Serve a broad community
purpose including a Charitab￿ play group and a range ol fitness classes. The local cornmunity enjoys mental and
physical health benefits through the range of acliviti•s.
Followng Support for Steyning Tennis Club in recent years for their dubhouse, they have gone r￿ffi strength to
strength in terms of members of all ages and the three courts are fully utilized every day. A grant of £45,000 was
provid8d lo h8lp with th• rosurfaang of of the court& which had become unfit for PUTpose through wear and lear.
The Trustees continue to support healthy IrFestyles through other sports with grants to Steyning BOWLS Club fr&r a
pétanque court, Upper Be9ding Football Club with new goal posts and a mower and Steynww Town under 8's with
srx s8al all weather shelter to help in the winter conditions.
A grant of £7.270 was awarded to th8 Modèl Bikery, which operates a Community bll(e faality for repaits. education
and a soctal network for all types of bikes.
Our support for the health seNices in the community continued wilh a grant of£2.994 to Steyning Medical Practice for
a Bedfont Nljbreath V2 FeNO monitor and to Steyning Patient Participalion Group for £4,5CWJ to help continue
valuable communication with the community thiough magazinés and technology.

Plans forthe fuÈurn
Wilson Memorial Trust will continue to receive applications and activaty seèk oppjrtunities to assist the community
with grants to support its aims and objectives.
The TrJstee5 have considered Ihe major risks to which the Twst is exposed aTrJ have reviewed those risks and
established appropriate systems and procedures to manage those risks.
The principal objectives of the tNsl are well defined. The backgrounds of the members of the Board of Trustees
including experien￿ in the health sedor, finanual control. invesbnent management and18g31 and compliance provide
Ihg skills to m88t the principal obj8ctives of the Trust. Conflids of interest are declared al each meeting where
decisions on grants are being m?de and there is a stsndard pro￿dure for grant applications to be réceived. recorded
and assassad by all Truslees.
The Trustees review financial reports induding rash flow. investment performance and thg Stalus of grant applieatlDns
at éach méeting. Independent investment managers have been appointed to manage the Trust's po￿0110 of assets
and be8n gNen a clear perforynance tarYJet based on tolal rebjms on fhose assets. A finarkce sulFcommittee monitors
the perfomants ofthose investrnent managers and meets with the manaprs at least On￿ per year to review their
performance and compliance with their targets.
The Trustees use their local knowledge to assess the validity of grant applications and avoid fraudulent claims. The
assets of the Trust are secured by the Trust's system of financial conlrol which teviewed and approved by the
Board of Trustees.
The Trustees are guided by their professional advisors and those Trustee¥ with a professional back9round to maintsin
Complian￿ wth appropriate legislation.

The charity has nel 8ssets of£1.805:312 at the year ended 31 March 2025 tL*mparad with £2,025.738 in the premous
year. The lotsl incorne for the year w83 £53,329 (2024. £56,573) comprising of dividends and interest from
investments.
Talal expenditure in the year was £172,939 (2024" £116,447), wh[(* included investment management fees,
govémanc* costs and grants to support the aims of the charity.

The TTUStees, who are aL%o the Directors of The Wilson MemorÈal Trust for the purpose of company law, are responsible

Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102} and the Companies Act 2006.
The Wilson Memorial Trust meets the definition of a public benefrt entity under FRS102. Assets and liabilitiés ar8

notèg. Th8re ar8 no material uncertainties about The Vmlson Memorial Trusys ability to continue as a going concem.

2.2 Income
Investment income is accounted for on an accruals basis.
All other income is ￿cOgnised when the Charity become¥ entitled to it, it can be measured and it 15 probable
the income will be received.
2.3 Expendlture
Costs are included in thè Statement of Financial Activitses on an accruals basis indusNe of irrecoverable VAT. AII
costs are allocaled beiween expenditure categories and departments on a basis designed to refl@ct the use of th8
resource. Costs relatsng to a Parti￿lar acttvity are allocated direcuy, whilst all olhers are apportioned on an
appropriate basis.
Support costs are incurred to support income generation and governance. together with the cost of management
and administration.
Grants payable are charged in the year when the (rffer is conveyed to the recipienL

2.4 Investments

General fvnds are unrestn'cted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in
