Beer Willage Heritage- Fine Foundation Centre
Annual Report 1st November 2024- 31st October 2025.
There have been some major changes in our building over the period of this report. Having had the external
walls cleaned and recoated with preserva've in 2023 we have now moved on to improve the inside of the
building. We removed the old arKI very dated fish tanks and had carpenters come in to take down the
surrounding woodwork. Vve then installed new fish tanks. These new tanks are at a lower level, making
rt easier for children to look in. They are posthoned so that there is wheelGhair access around them. The
fish tanks are better lit to help those with more limrted sight to see the rock pool displays.
We must thank those trustees and others who put in a great deal of time and efftjrt installing the tanks and
fittings. This took several weeks so the ￿ntre had to be dosed for much of our usual opening period.
However, we had the live rock pool tteatures in the tanks on display by the latter half of summer 2025.
on￿ again, members tumed out to clean and wepare the buikling for full opening.
The building is opened and dosed every day by our volurrteers. Daily opening 15 clearly much appreciated
by local people and by visitors to Beer. There is appreciation for all asFects of the displays., the geology of
the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. the natural worfd and the local history. We have wognised that
some of these displays are becoming dated and so we are loo￿ng to develop their qualty as our next
project.
Our volunteers hekl our usual artivtties with Fossil Fun, an educative activty for children during Beer
Regatta week, some rock pooling for families arKI several beadFcleans. Once again, some members
manned a drinks station with the R.N.L.l. for the Axe Valley Runners, Grizzly Run for which we received
donation. This volunteering greatly helps our funding. have also taken the opportunty to attend local
events to talk with people about the Worfd Heritage Site and our own work in Beer.
Once again. thanks to all those who give so much time arKI effcKt to maintsining the qualty, the vigour and
the effectiveness of our organisation.
