## **Report of the Trustees for the year ending 31 March 2021**
The year ending 31 March 2021 has been the most challenging and difficult year for the Trustees and volunteer leaders of the Scout Group.
## • **Scouting Activities**
On 16 March 2020, in accordance with Government guidance, the Scout Association announced the immediate suspension of all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events. This suspension of our usual Scouting activities continued for the whole of 2020/21.
After a short suspension, the Group’s volunteer leaders were able to establish contact with members of our Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, Scout Troop and each other using online digital Zoom meetings. Whilst these digital meetings did not enable the Group to deliver its normal range of Scouting activities it did enable us to provide a limited program of activities to our young people who were also not attending school.
## • **Financial Impacts**
The suspension of Scouting activities reduced our cash income from parents until they were asked to make monthly standing order payments of their children’s subscriptions. The Group lost £2,000 of income that would have been earned from the Wirral Scout Post service that was cancelled in December 2020.
The Group owns and operates its own Scout HQ for which it receives statutory business rate relief. We were contacted by Wirral Council and were invited to apply for financial support under the Government’s Coronavirus Small Business Grant scheme. By 31 March 2021, the Group had received 4 grant payments totalling £19,431 that enabled the Group to improve the heating and lighting in our Headquarters in preparation for the recommencement of Scouting activities in 2021.
## • **Summary**
2020/21 has been the most challenging and difficult year ever for our volunteer leaders and the young people that we deliver our Scouting activities to.
However, thanks to the hard work of our volunteer leaders and the support of our parents we were able to maintain regular contact with our young people. The trustees feel that we are in a good position and are ready to be able to resume a full program of Scouting activities during 2021/22.
