TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT 2021

This Annual Report covers the period from 1[st] April 2020 to 31[st] March 2021. The membership of the Board of Trustees has been constant. The Trust employs no staff but relies on the Trustees, contractors and other volunteers to carry out its activities, and works in partnership with other organisations. In preparing this report the Trustees/Directors have paid due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and the reporting thereof.

The Trust continues to provide and manage two areas of land to fulfil its charitable objectives of providing green space for local communities and to encourage bio-diversity within such sites. The Trust leases The Lake at The Lawn in Cainscross and holds the freehold of The Old Uplands Community Allotment and Orchard in Stroud.

Having completed the restoration of The Lake at The Lawn in 2014, in the short to medium term, the site is now being maintained by the Trust in its current format to meet its charitable objectives. There continues to be a satisfying increase in wildlife and public use of The Lake at The Lawn in accordance with the management plan and the Trust’s objectives.

During the year, we have continued to support a group of local residents to utilise The Old Uplands Community Allotment and Orchard. Around a dozen families directly benefit from the project. We will continue to monitor their use of the site.

The Lake at The Lawn continues to be available for open public access. The Old Uplands site has direct access to adjoining families. Both provide valuable local wildlife habitats in consistency with the Trust’s objectives. There are no detrimental impacts from our work and no groups are restricted in their access to the sites, although there is obviously heavier use from those who live within the immediate vicinity. Access for people without full mobility is limited at The Lawn and the Old Uplands sites by the natural terrain of the site.

Expenditure on these two sites is currently focused on routine maintenance. The charity’s restricted funds are being held in an allocated reserve towards a long-term Farm to Fork project in the Poitou-Charentes region of France. Work in the past year has begun on the first stage of this project. A series of habitat enhancements and recycling initiatives are due to be completed on schedule by the end of 2021.

Signed by a director on behalf of all directors
