Reference and Administratlon All general information relating to the A J Bennewith Charitable Trust can be found on page 1. structure, Governance and Management The ch8rity is governed by Its trust deed and is an unincorporated charity. It is controlled by the trustees who are appointed when necessary by the existing trustees and are given sufficient training upon appointment. Objectlves and Actlvitles The charity's objective is to apply the trust income for the benefit of such exclusively charitable purposes as the trustees in their discretion may think fit, The trustees have had due regard to the guidance on public benefit publislied by the Ch8rity Commission. The main activity undertaken to further the chariws purpose for the public benefit is the making of grants to other charitable organisations. Achlevèments and Perfonnance During the year the charity was able to use its resources to support 42 different charities. Responsibllltie5 and basls of report As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(51(bl of the Act. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021 (effective 1 January 2015),, Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. b. Income recognltlon All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. Tax r&claimable in respect of covenants and gift aid is credited in the same period as the underlying donation. Resources expended Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amounl can be measured reliably.
