Chairmans Report 2024

The Tom Boden Memorial Sports Trust continues to work with and for the village and the surrounding area.

We meet our charitable objectives by providing facilities for the whole of the community. Two floodlit tennis courts, a crown bowling green and a junior play area. During the year other organisations can apply for support.

In the last twelve months work has been completed on the refurbishment of toilets, lights, and floors of the pavilion together with all the relevant certificates. During inspections certain items of the junior play area were found as needing repair, which I am pleased to say has now been completed to the satisfaction of the inspectors. Thanks must go to the Parish Council for its work.

The Tennis and Bowls Club have had a successful season with clubs increasing membership. Coaching has been available for both tennis and bowls, and particular thanks must go to the tennis club for the coaching of the junior members.

The only negative work of the trust has been Mr & Mrs Robert Johnson are unable to grant a lease for Robert’s green in the future. After 15 years uninterrupted use it’s a great loss for the community. Sincere thanks to the parish council and residents for the help in this matter, it is much appreciated.

A very big thank you must be given to the management and members of Denstone Parish Council, Bowls Club and Tennis Club for maintaining the facilities in such an excellent manner and I wish them all the best as they head into a new season of competitive competition.

The coming year will see new challenges and we look forward to maintaining the quality of our facilities.

I would like to conclude by giving my personal thanks to all the trust members for giving their time and continued support, both to the trust and the village.
