March **2012** **TAR** 2 When planning our activities for the year, the trustees declare that they have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. To fulfill our charitable objects for the public benefit, our main activities this year included: 1. **Rescue and Sanctuary:** We provided a safe rescue facility for unwanted, abused, and surrendered rabbits, guinea pigs, and rats from the public. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 2. **Veterinary Care and Rehabilitation:** We provided essential veterinary treatment and rehabilitation for animals arriving with health concerns. This included general neutering and vaccinations which is our policy. Any dentals, incisor removals, lumpectomies/ mass removals have been performed where required 3. **Rehoming:** We provided the opportunity for rehabilitated animals to find permanent, happy future lives in vetted homes. 4. **Public Education:** We actively advanced public understanding of proper animal husbandry and welfare through both targeted adopter education and broader community outreach. For adopters, we ensure a clear understanding of the duty of care by providing tailored guidance on bonding, teaching proper husbandry, and verifying that all accommodations meet RWAF guidelines prior to handover. March **2012** **TAR** 3 Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** Despite a challenging national landscape, we continued to successfully execute our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. Our main achievements this year included: - **Navigating Increased Demand:** We successfully managed a significant increase in animal surrenders. This surge was primarily driven by external factors, including the post-pandemic return to the workplace and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis impacting pet owners. Despite these pressures, we provided sanctuary for 260 animals this year, and were able to successfully rehome 244 of those animals in this financial year - **Facility Upgrades:** In June, we successfully relocated the rabbit arm of the charity to new premises. This strategic move has provided improved, dedicated facilities, directly benefiting the health, enrichment, and overall welfare of the rabbits in our care. - **Volunteer Mobilization:** Our operations continue to be entirely sustained by the dedication of our volunteers. This year, our team of 10 volunteers provided vital day-to-day care, allowing us to keep our doors open to animals in need despite the rising demand for our services.
