Welcome

Welcome to our 2023 annual report. In 2023 we started to fully adjust to our new operating environment with less staffing and yet considerable demands. We continued to work with valued partners both at home and also overseas. This at times proved to be quite a stretch in physical work and led to us streamlining some of our operations at the end of the year to help us deliver a better service. 2024 would see the introduction of new procedures surrounding our hosting visiting ministries and a reduction in organised events in the UK. 2023 also saw our levels of support for Ukrainian refugees reduce as the public tended to move on to new causes, however, we maintained some input and support to partners in Ukraine, Estonia, and Poland.

In 2023 we saw Barry McMullen resign as a trustee and be replaced by Kerstin Obermann. Our income did drop but the charity remains in a stable place.

Once again a massive thank you to everyone who has stood with us and supported us over the last 12 months.

Church Planting and Evangelism

In 2023 all our UK Churches continued to grow numerically and also in terms of active influence in the communities they are a part of. In addition our pastoral teams were active in providing practical help and support. The Churches in Radcliffe and Llangollen continued to carry out building work on their respective properties with positive improvements being made. As the year progressed our Radcliffe Church saw the Church building being used by Narcotics Anonymous, Cubs, Drama groups and locally run ESOL lessons and therapeutic art classes. The ESOL lessons made a massive difference to asylum seekers and refugees arriving in Radcliffe. The Church was to receive a lot of recognition for its work amongst refugees even being featured on the TV. 2023 saw the Brazilian Church cease to use the premises due to change in leadership. City Church Llangollen further developed their online mission channel with a wide range of content and also continued with the food bank helping those suffering from food poverty. Hope of Life continue to worship out of Radcliffe and Barry and Susan McMullen are continuing to invest in the Great Lever community.

World Mission

In 2023 Mark visited Poland and Denmark. In Poland we have forged links with City of Saints Church in Warsaw which helped thousands of people fleeing the war in Ukraine. Mark ministered in both Warsaw and Łódź. In addition we sponsored a children’s camp for Ukrainian children trapped by the conflict. In addition we continued supporting our connections in Ukraine covering the towns in Uzhgorod, Lutsk, Kremenchuk, and Sumy . We also supported House of Mercy and Way to Life Ministries in Estonia as they cared for Ukrainian refugees. October saw a team of 10 visiting Way to Life in Estonia where they worked with Ukrainian families and helped make repairs to the local Salvation Army community centre. In November Paul Duckworth and Brian Smith visited the Phillipines and the Churches in that country that are now connected with PFJ.

We have continued to support the health clinic and school in the community of Buwasunguyi, Uganda and have made slow progress with the building of the maternity clinic. This has all been affected by the remote nature of Buwasunguyi. In addition the work of Hannahs children’s home in Malawi has been stable throughout 2023 with the children continuing to flourish.

Training and church unity

In 2023 we ran with a full program of Elevate leaders running every 2 months. The numbers attending was averaging around 10 to 12. We also had visitors from overseas in the form of Alidi Mpateya, Kola Emiola, Dennis Goldsworthy Davis, Angel King and Kim Torp.

Conclusion

2023 was another year where we were adjusting to a post pandemic environment. We continued to find a way to adapt to new needs that needed addressing. With the changes we are looking to make in 2024 we expect to see a year where we rebuild and see new momentum come into the work. We are highly conscious that everything we do is because of the kindness, faithfulness and generosity of our supporters.

I report on the accounts of the trust for the year ended 31st of December 2023 which are set out on the following pages and as the charities trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. My examination was carried out in accordance with the general direction given by the charity commissioners.

This report gives a general overview of the accounts pertaining to this year and the proceedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I don’t express an audit opinion on the accounts.

In connection with my examination no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

And to which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
