Welcome
Welcome to our 2021 annual report. If 2020 saw things disrupted because of the pandemic then it would be fair to say that 2021 was still largely played out under the shadow of Covid. Our ways of working were again adapted around the pandemic with us continuing a strong presence online. Our staffing changed further with both Ben Donohoe and Tracy Fenton moving on from us to new adventures. This left myself as the only member of staff which inevitably meant some curtailment of what we were capable of doing. Having said that through online ministry we were able to reach into many nations and also through various means communicate with our UK Churches. Our finances remained stable although we saw a drop both in income and expenditure. As the year progressed so things started to open up with the prospect of more normality in 2022.
Once again a massive thank you to everyone who has stood with us and supported us over the last 12 months.
Mark Curtis
Church Planting and Evangelism
Many of our activities continued to be affected by the legacy of the pandemic, however, each of our churches remained resourceful finding new ways of staying connected and serving our communities. Church meetings moved across to a number of different platforms such as Zoom, Facebook live, WhatsApp etc. By the end of the year all our UK Churches had reverted to in person meetings. In addition our pastoral teams were active in providing practical help and support. The Churches in Radcliffe and Llangollen continued to carry out building work on their respective properties was carried out on our properties. As the year progressed our Radcliffe Church saw the Church building being used by Narcotics Anonymous, and locally run ESOL lessons and therapeutic art classes. City Church Llangollen further developed their online mission channel and also continued with the food bank. Hope of Life continue to worship out of Radcliffe and Barry and Susan McMullen are continuing to invest in the Great Lever community. During 2021 we built relationships with the Hub Roe Green and All Nations Church Keighley.
World Mission
International travel was very limited in 2021 due to the pandemic and saw just one trip in September when Mark visited Denmark to minister in the Bible Academy in Thisted run by our great friend Kim Torp. We continued to put support into a number of nations and minister on various online platforms.
We have continued to support the health clinic and school in the community of Buwasunguyi, Uganda and have made progress with the building of the maternity clinic. This has all been affected by various lockdowns in Uganda. In addition the work of Hannahs children’s home in Malawi has been stable throughout 2021 with the children continuing to flourish.
Training and church unity
Again the work was curtailed by the pandemic with 2 notable exceptions. The first was we resumed Elevate leaders with an in person gathering in September and secondly we held a conference for Evangelists in Liverpool with our good friends Reggie and Angela Van Dinter Under the banner NWGE. This was a great success and another is planned for 2022. We continued to participate in and support the inter church initiative ‘ Bolton passion 2030’ which sees Churches working closely together.
Conclusion
2021 was another year where things were greatly affected by the shadow of the pandemic. We continued to work and make a difference even though some of our activities were very limited. As the year came to an end things started to open up and we expect normal action to be resumed
Report of the Independent Examiner
Passion for Jesus Accounts ending 31st December 2021
I report on the accounts of the trust for the year ended 31st of December 2021 which are set out on the following pages and as the charities trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. My examination was carried out in accordance with the general direction given by the charity commissioners.
This report gives a general overview of the accounts pertaining to this year and the proceedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I don’t express an audit opinion on the accounts.
In connection with my examination no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
1) To keep accounting records in accordance with the Charities Act
-
2) To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements haven’t been met
And to which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
