PRESTON CHINESE CHRISTIAN CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT 1 APRIL 2023 TO 31 MARCH 2024
The Church committee consists of the Chairman and four elected members and held regular meetings during the financial year.
The committee makes decisions on the running of the church. The church focuses on serving the local Chinese, Mandarin speaking Chinese families from China, outreach evangelism to takeaways, and make donations to various Christian Organisations.
This year continues to be a year of changes, many Hong Kong BNOs have made the church their home for worship. The congregation has grown, almost double the size. With the growth, there are challenges and we are thankful the newcomers have participated in daily worships as well as Sunday teachers.
Sunday school
Sunday school classes for some children 11 to 13 continued on Saturdays and held through Whatsapp online and we thank the Sunday school teacher for her dedication. This continued to be well received by both parents and Sunday school children. The number of Sunday school children has increased and we are thankful for newcomers help.
Bible study Groups
We now have a prayer meeting group and 3 Bible study groups. We continue to use Zoom as a preferred platform outreaching to a larger membership. The establishment of a weekly group 16.9 to serve the Hong Kong members is extremely welcomed and participants enjoyed the sharing not only of the gospel but also daily needs.
Donations
We continue to make donations to various Christian organisations this financial year.
Pastor Leadership
The pastoral partnership with COCM ended on 31 March 2023 and during the year the church ceased to have a Pastor. We are pleased that Pastor Yuen continue to provide preaching and Bible studies to the congregation on an as needed basis. The Sunday preaching is supplemented with external guest pastors and our own brothers. It is the aim to seek a suitable Pastor.to lead the church.
The Committee had been working hard to amend/ update the church constitution and elected brother Zimin Wu as the church Elder. We look forward to his guidance and help to shape the future of the church. Under the revised constitution, the committee has now been renamed as the Deacon board.
Church Advisors
Elder Eric Chan from Liverpool Chinese Gospel Church was reappointed as one of two church advisors and we thank him for his valuable support and advice. We also thank Rev Gary Wong from Manchester Chinese Christian Church, our second Advisor and we look forward to his guidance in ministering and administration of the church.
.
Financial status
There have been no major changes to the investment portfolio. There is sufficient cash reserves in the current bank account for the ongoing banking requirements.
Future
The church looks to the future with optimism and continue to maintain its enthusiasm in helping to spread the gospel to the Chinese community in Preston, Blackpool, Morecambe and Blackburn.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Preston Chinese Christian Church Trust
Charity Registration No. 1086431
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 March 2024 , which are set out below;
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
- (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: O to
keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
