To advance religion in accordance with the teachings of Islam. 2. To advance educalion. in particular, amongst women and young people. 3. To provide or assist in the provision of recreational and leisure facilities in the interest of social welfare and so that the quality of life of the residents in the area of benefit may be irnproved. 4. To encourage dis&ster appeals to help the needs of people around the world who have suffered through disaster. 5. To provide a safe and user-friendly environment for meditation. family counselling> parenlal guidance and daily prayers. Religious Activities The Al-Ansar tEC. continues to serve as a vibrant hub for worship, learnin& and community engagement. Our mosque remains at the heart of religious life for many, operating as a place of prayer and spiritual development, as well as a venue for a wide range of community-led and faith-based iniliatives. Daily and Friday Prayers The Centr¢ welcomes over l OQ worshippers daily for the five obligatory prayers and regularly hosts over 600 congregants for the Jummah (.Friday) prayers, demonstrating consistent growth in attendance and engagement. This reaffirms our role as a central space for communal worship and connection. (Jr'an M¢morisation (Hifdh) Qur'an memorisation is a vilal component of Islamic education. Our Hifdh classes continue to flourish, serving both youth and adults. This year once again, we held an annual Qurfan Awards Ceremony to honour the achievements of our students, celebrating their dedication and progress in memorisation. Islamic Education and Awareness A core aim of Al-Ansar is to increase understanding and awareness of Islam. This year, we expanded our educational offerings to include: Weekly Tafsir classes including a thematic understanding of selected chapters. - Lectures on Prophetic Heritage exploring Seerah and Hadith. - Qur'an and Science sessions, bridging faith and contemporary knowledge. These sessions have attracted growing interest and have been instrumental in engaging a wide range of age groups within the community. Youtb Engagement Our youth programmes remain one of the most dynamic a5pecls of the Centre's work: - Energise Summer Workshop once again ran ai full capacity, with strong demand from teens. The Girls, Youth Club has grown into a weekly fixture, offering fun, safe, and structured activilies for teenage girls, fostering confidence, identity, and friendships. These initiatives are vital in nurturing the next generation and encouraging meaningful involvement in the wmmunity. Sports and Recreation Al-Ansar recognises the importance of physical activity for holistic wellbeing: Youth Football Club continues to run weekly session5, promoting teamwork and discipline during the summer. - The populaT Jiu Jitsu classes have expanded, catering to a wide demographic. Eid in the Open was hosted again for Eid al-Adha, fostering unity and celebration across the community. - Father & Son Camping Retreats, held in both summer and winter, provided invaluable bonding experiences through faith, nature, and reflection. - Al-Ansar proudly participated in the Al-Noor Dragon Boat Race on¢¢ again reaching the final stages. Our charitable objectives also saw the conlinuation of., Ramadhan fundraising campaigns in partnership with external charities. A "Sponsor a Child" scheme to subsidise educational programme fees for families facing financial hardship. Chapters Ilood Bank The Chapters Food Bank in partnership with Serving Humanity, an integral service of Al-Ansar, currently supports 35-50 households per week, In addition to in-p¢rson collection, home deliveries are arranged for those with mobility or n]edical challenges. Beneficiaries include: . Refugee5 and asylum seeker5 - Low-income familie5 Students Victims of domestic violence Unemployed individuals On average, 2 tonnes of food are distributed monthly. Referrals now come from loca] councils, charities, and healthcare agencies, und¢rs¢oring our trust¢d reputation. Fundralslng and Operational Growth Regular Jummah collections and increased Ramadhan fundraising efforts have been central to sustaining and expanding our services. In response to the growing scope and complexity of our operations, a full-time Operations Manager was appointed in March. This key role support3 the effective Coordination of daily activities and ensures that all initiatives run smoothly and in line with our vision. Looklng Ahead The Trustees remain deeply committed to ensuring Al-Ansar conlinues to grow as a beacon of spiritual, educational, and social support. AL-ANSAR ISLAMIC EDUCATION CENTRE REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2024 FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial posltlon During the year, total incoming resources amounted to £166,083 {2023: £224,517) and total expenditure incurred were £120,832 (2023: £98,917). Main income was in the forni of regular donations from the members of public. A separate collection was undertaken for the constTU¢tion of an extension of the niosque. These were part of trestricted income. Expenditure in the year were niainly attributed to the running costs of the Mosque. Construction costs that took place in the year wer¢ also accounted for and capitalised. As a result, the charity achieved a net incoming resources of £45,251 (2023: £125.600) which further led to general reserves carried forward as at 30th Sept 2024 as £1,607,117 (2023: £1,567,077) and restri¢ted reserves of £71,910 (2023: £12,699). The trustees are satisfied with the charity's overall financial position. Investmenl powtrs And polfjcy Under its Memorandum of Association. the charity has power to invest in any way the trustees wish. Reserves pollcy The trustees have established the level of reserves (that is those funds that are freely available) that the. charily ought to have. Reserves are needed to bridge the funding gaps between spending on activities and. receiving resources through voluntary grants. The trust¢¢s consider thal the ideal level of reserves as at 30 September 2024 would be three months of resources expended which equat¢s to £30,208. The trustees are actively pursuing sources of funding in order to ensure that there are sufficient reserves to provide for financial stability and flexibility. FUTURE PLANS Al-Ansar IEC will conlinue to expand and develop its activities to provide encouragement for active parental participalion in their children's education and Work with other established organisations to further their cor¢ objectives. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing doeument The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust. and constitutes a limited Company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. Al-Ansar Islami¢ Education Centre is a company limited by guarantee without sharc capital, incorporated on 19 October 2000 and regislered with the Charity Commission on 30 April 2001. The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of the charitable company and is governed under ils Articles of Association. Recruitment and appointmenl of trllstees The existing trustees are responsible for the recruitmenl of new trustees but in so doing the trstees seek the vicws and recommendations of both cldcrs and community leaders. In selecling new trustees, we seek to identify people who regularly att¢nd events and functions organised by the charity and are willing to volunteer to help in our broader community worL Potential trustees are invited to attend trustees, meetings as observers and are given more detai15 of the charity's aims and activities and. if all agree. they are then proposed as new trustees at the subsequent Irustees, meeting. The trustces give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other fjnancial bcn¢fits. The trust¢¢s meet tog¢th¢r as a body monthly and are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to running the Mosque and the ommunity facilities and the activities provided by the charity. To assist in the smooth running of the charity the trustees have set up a number of sulKommittees that help them oversee certain aspects of the charity's work.
