reached retirement. There is also the wider
social benefit of our members coming together
with like-mindedpeople.

We hold a monthly general meeting, which all
members are invited to attend, featuring
refreshments and a talk by a (usually external)
speaker. Occasionally, the speaker may be
replaced by a social gathering.
We also operate over 80 special interest
groups, meeting at different venues across
Basingstoke and the surrounding area and at
different times and frequencies each month.
These groups are open to all members.
Members are regularly encouraged to invite
friends to our meetings, in the hope that they
will be interested in joining our u3a. non-
members may attend one meeting of up to
three groups on a trial basis.

local communities with local activities that
helps reduce social isolation, and provides
local people with opportunities to increase their
mental health, increase their learning, and
improve their fitness and well-being.
Membership has now grown to over 1,143,
representing an increase of nearly 15% on the
previousyear.

We have increased our special interest groups to 84 groups, meeting at different times and frequencies each month. This gives our membership a wider choice of activities to keep them active and involved.
