Principal Objects The constitution of the Barnes Primary School PTFA was originally adopted in March 2000. A new constitution was adopted in July 2015 based on the model constitution provided by PTA-UK. The charity is an unincorporated advanceassociation. the The education principalof all object pupils is toat the engageschool.in activities to support the school and assist in the Provision of facilities to
Trustees The Trustees and the Executive Committee (named on page 1) are appointed or re-appointed annually at the AGM. Trustees and the Executive Committee do not receive any remuneration from the charity, Activities and achievements Total income for 2023 is £123k. This is broadly flat on 2022 income of £127k. Donations also remain flat year on year at £57k (2022: £60k). However, during the previous year, a gift aid rebate of£17k was received for the preceding threeyear period. Excluding this one-off rebate, donations are up year on year by £14k (33%), Total expenses for 2023 are £109k (2022: £136k), decreasing by 20% on the previous year. This financial year we have contributed £90k to the school (2022: £116k). We have contributed to:
Raising Standards - £58k IT Equipment - £12k School Infrastructure Improvements - £10k Playground Improvements - £7k Music resources - £3k
This has resulted in an in- year gain of £14k (2022: loss of £9k).
Funds As at 31 August 2023 the PTFA held funds of£125k (2022: £1 12k). Of these funds brought forward into the financial year ending 31 August 2024, approximately £55k have been ring fenced for raising standards, infrastructure improvements, playground repairs and technology upgrades.
Trustees’ responsibilities benefitThe Trustees guidance have complied published by with the the Charity duty Commission. in section 17(5) ofthe Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public The Charities Act requires the trustees to prepare Financial statements for each financial year which gives the true and Accountfair view offor thatthe association’s year, state of affairs at the end of the year and of the correctness ofthe Income and Expenditure In preparing those Financial Statements, the trustees are required to select suitable accounting policies and then apply then consistently, makejudgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent and prepare the Financial Statements on a Going Concer basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the association will continue to be in operation. The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time, the financial position ofthe association and to enable them to ensure that the Financial statements comply with the Charities Act as applicable to smaller charities. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS’ REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES
We report on the financial statements of the Barnes Primary School PTFA for the year ended 31 August 2023 which are set out on pages 4 — 6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is our responsibility to:

¢ examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act; e to follow the procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charities Commissioners under section 145(5)(b) of the Act; and
-
e to state whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
The examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes a consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently, we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts and the report is limited to the matters below.
Independent examiners statement
In connection with our examination, no material matter has come to our attention:
- (1) which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements ° to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and e to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act (other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of the independent examination),
have not been met; or

understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Accounting Policies
Basis of Accounting
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards on the receipts and payments basis and under the historical cost convention. All figures are presented in pounds sterling.
Stock
Stock is written off in the year of purchase.

Taxation As a non profit-making association with charitable status, the association’s activities do not currently create a charge to UK taxation.

Trustees The Trustees and the Executive Committee do not receive any remuneration from the charity.
