OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Yhe objectives of the Choir shall be to practicq promote and study music in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation of music by means of pubLic performance." In 2025 the choir's membership remained 8t an averagè of 50 through tho year. The membership age range is typically 50+ to 90+ years. The cambraderie between members and the mutual support given to each othor is exceptional and reflected in long-term ftiendships and mental well-being. as well as the othèr widely understood health benefits that derive from singing. Publlc Performances The choir fulfils its charitable objectives by pérformlng In publlc at 8 wlde varlety of events 8nd locations throughout Gloucestèrshire and Its surrounding area. It seeks to leach the broadest 8udience by arranging public concerts, 8CC8Ptin8 private event and family booklngs and slnging Informally In many Ioc8tion8. At one end ofthe scale the choir sang in the"1 $0 Volces Concert" at Hereford Cathedral together wlth the Worcestèr Male Voice choir and the Heretord Police Choir Ir8isin8 funds for the Ioc81 hospit811. At the other. It sang at Corse and Steunton Vlll88e Hall. in rural Gloucestershlre. From Its concert at St. Matthew's in Cheltenh8m. it raised funds for the homeless. It sang for the residents of an independent Uving centre in Tewkesbury and also r8ised funds through a concert In St. Paul's Church Cheltenham forthe Rapha Medlc8 Project. vthich providos medlc81 servlces In rural Nlg6ri8. The choir san8 at 3 weddings and 2 funer81s, bringingjoy and entertalnmènt in the former and solace for the grieving families and friends attending the Latter. In the Spring, th8 choirtravelled to Tenby. in SoLrth-WestW8les. where its concert r8is&d funds for the Ioc81 RNLI. Financlal Overview of 2025 The operating income of the choir d8rives trom membership subscriptions. donations to choir funds. the net proceeds from public pertormances. concerts orprivate bookings and otherfund- raising activities as well as Gift Aid derived from donations an(J membership subscriptions. The gross income of the choir incorporates receipts from members for social activities such as an annual dinner or tour accommodation which are oflset by balancing expenditure on those activities. In 2025 the total income received was £32.096.38 The cholr uses the incomefrom its 8¢tivities tofund its oper8tionalout8oings and to support oth8r worthy causes. In 2025 the total expendlture w88 £34,436.16 Th8 main operatlon81 costs for the choir were the employment of its proféssion81 music team, hlr8 of its rehg8rs81 venue end the purch8se of music scores. Fees for the Music Team werè £8.060.00 and venue hire was £2,336.96. In addition. it made donatlons totalling £650.00 to ¢harrties includlng: Tenby RNLI and The Saturday Kitchen. An exceptional item ol expenditure in 2025 was the purchase of an 816ctronic keyboard and 8mpllfler which were needed for its public pertormances costing £1,785.00 in total. That compares to 8 surplus of £4,973.22 In 2024. a deficit of £ -706.26 in 2023,. gn excèss of £194.14 in 2022; £2,237.77 in 2021, £3,932.48 in 2020; £2,039.96 in 2019; and 8 deficit of £1.560.64 In 2018. The financial policy followed by the trustees is to retain sufficient funds in its bank accounts so as to ensure the continuance and opeTation81 viabilrty of the choir. It has ffiinim81 fixed costs.. rehearsal venue hire is booked on a quarterly basis and its music team are paid by Session delivered, monthly in arrears.
