The directors and trustees present their report and accounts for the fiscal year entsj December
31. 2024.
St Michael's Comerstone Trust is constftuted as a company limited by guarantee and Is governed
by a memorandum and artides of association dated May 16,1984.
Objectives
The obfvc#ive8 of St Mlthael's Comerstone Tru* are to promote any tharitable purpose for the
benefit of the Inhabitants of the Parfsh of St Mlchael and its sufftiundlng parishes of Cheltenham.
Speclfically, the trust aims to alleviate poverty. advan￿ education, maintain and enhance publlc
amenllles, and provkle leisure facilities In the interest of social welfare.
At the Heart ofour Community
Comer8lone Centre serves as a vibrant community hub, run by th8 communlty for the communlty.
Its primary objeclive Is to provide a safe and welcomlng environment for individuals to connect,
sodallse, and acquire new skills. The centre welcomes all members of the communlty, wlth
8pecific focus on reathing vulnerable populatk)ns, induding the elderfy, SOCAalty isolated
Indlviduals, those wlth addltlonal physlcal and mental health challenges. and young famllles.
Acuvltles at the Centro encompass a dlverse range of programmes and servl(xs. indudlng:
- Communlty Café: Offerfng affordable tea, coffee, and snacks, providing a gatherlng place for
communlty members.
- Charlty Shop: Selllng donated Item8 to raise funds for the trust and provlde grants for those In the
communlty most In need.
- Toddler Groups: Organlslng supervlsed playllme for young thlldren.
- Homework Clubs: Provldlng academic support lo students.
- Community Lunthes: Offering nutrilk>us meals to the communty.
- Unrfomied Groups: Providing opportunities for o)mmunty members to engage In group a￿￿tIes.
- Community-Bas8d Exercise Sessions: Facllltating physical fthess and weN-b8lng.
Addltlonally, the trusl provldes the Comerstone Cupboard, a food panty wlth 117 famllies
registered, 82 acaivety utllising the panty 45 famli les benefitlng eath week.
Our Play Trall offers personallsed parental support to famllles with children under Iwo. This servlce
slgnificantly impacts a (*ild's early years of sthooling and overall life outcomes. Addilionalty, we
provlde Muslc Therapy to families Identified as having additional needs in collaboration with
Oakwood School and Oakley child￿n'S Centre.
In 2024, we have observed an in¢yease In both the number of individuals a￿Ssing services at the
Centre and the severity of thelr needs. A recent user survey revealed that 50% of users seek
pastoral support, 25% have been visitlng for over a decade. and 31 Oh have been new to the Centre
In the past two years, prlmarity through word-of-mouth referrals. Notabty, "Communiw and 'Social°
were the mst Impa(thl facaors (74%), with improvements in weu-being (34%). mental health
(19%), and reduced18olation (10%) among other&
V￿lIe more Indlviduals are engaglng in CO￿ adivilies at the Centre. we have been inc¥easingty
provldlng support lo individuals In very diffi￿lt Cir￿MS18nce8. This may involve invltlng extemal
organisations to offer services within the Centre, such as Listenlng Post t>)unselling or referrals to

other local service providers or even taking someone with substance abuse issues to hospital and
waiting with them for treatment after they have collapsed.
Our Charity Shop is ever popular. One-third of the revenue generated Is allocated to a grant
scheme that supports individuals in our local communty facing financial difficulties. We regularfy
utilise this fund to assist individuals in topping up their electricity or gas meters. Additionally, we
provide assistance with the purchase of secon&hand white goods for families wlthout kltthen
appliances. We strive to understand each individual's Gircumstances Ihat have led to their need.
enabling us to provide support or refer them to appropriate organisations that can offer further
afJsi*ance.
Example Outcomes
OlderAdults.' 43% of our users are over the age of 60. The cent￿ plays a vital role in combating
isolation through its café, Community Lunch, Prize Blngo, and other social and craft actlvltles.
Additionally, we provide comprehenslve advice, healthy eating guidance, 50+ fitne&8 programmes,
and financial support, contributing to improved physical and mental well-belng.
Families, child￿n, and Young People.. Earty years edu(2tion focuses on soclal skllls development.
leaming through play and music, and engaging %hoolchlldren in homework dubs, unlform groups,
and Café Church. Young people gain access to leisu￿ activities and the holiday dub, while Grant
support helps reduce child povety. leadlng to decreased uime and antisodal behaviour. Positive
activities and increased communty cohesion foster a nurturing envlronment for all.
Disabilty." 50QA of survey respondents reported living with a disability. We offer accesslble
educational and soaal activities that combat isolation through engagement in disability-specific and
general activlties. These adivilies have been shown to redu￿ mental heallh issues, enhance self-
confidence, soclal skills, and self-worth through volunteering, Improve employment skllls and
physical fftness.
Our Team
I would like to pay tnbute to our amazing team that go the extra mile to make sure that every vlsltor
to the Comerstone Centre is made to feel welcome and part of the famlly. Our Centre Manager,
Alison, oversees daily operations with the invaluable support of Fran, our administrator; Sue, our
Panty Coordinator and Mel, our PlayTrail Coordinator and music therapist. Additionally, James,
the Vlcar, Taz. Ihe Curate; and Martin, the Methodist Mlnisler trom Sl. Ml(*ael's Church acaively
contrtbute to the Centre's vlbranl life and adivities.
We are extremely grateful to our 50+ volunteers who glve their time energy and enthusiasm so
willingly helping to make Comerstone the welcoming and vibrant community Ihat it is.
Furthemiore, l extend my heartfelt gratitude to our trustees for their wisdom, unwavering
commltment, and encouraging guidance throughout the year.

I report to the trustees on my examlnatlon of the accounts of St Mlchael* Com8rstone Trust for the
year ended 31 December 2024 which comprtse the Statement of Financlal Actlvltl8S, the Balance
Sheet and the related notes.
Rosponsibllltlos and basis of roport
As the charitys trustees (and also directors for the purposes of company law) you are respnsible for
the preparats'on of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 (the
2006 Act).
Having established that the accounts of the charity are not required to be auditied under Part 16 of the
2006 Act and are eligible for Independent Examination, I report in respect of my examination of the
charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Acharities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act). In carrying
out my examination I have followed all the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission
under sects'on 145{5)(b) of the 2011 Act.

I have completed my examination. I can confinn that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the exafflination giving me cause to believie that in, any material respect:
the accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 396 of the 2006
Act., or

the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements under section 396 of the 2006 Act other
