Objectives and Activities

Objectives and Activities Objectives and Activities
Summary of the purposes of
Eternal Benefits
To benefit the residents of Hull by providing activities and facilities in the
interests of social welfare, relief of poverty and social inclusion without
distinction of gender, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other
opinions with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents
and to work out in practice positive, holistic encouragement of the Christian
faith.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to the
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts
Community Centre

Community Caféoffering low-cost healthy meals with a 'pay as you like'
option to help relieve food deprivation and isolation. This is open to
anyone but primarily it is used by the elderly, unemployed, disabled and
migrant communities. We further offer a 10-unit computer suite and
telephone systems to help the community access support or signposted
agencies such as the job centre, doctors, social and welfare services.

Community Kitchenenabling our community and other community
groups to cook in a safe and controlled environment. This is aimed at
relieving poverty and operates in the interests of social welfare. It is used
by children, young people, the elderly, migrant communities and
traveling communities. We teach food hygiene and healthy cooking to all
ages.

Unemployment training. We help those who are unemployed with IT
literacy and teach beneficiaries how to use job search sites. We help
beneficiaries write C. V’s and covering letters, enabling them to find
employment. This also serves people’s general social welfare; it reduces
deprivation and poverty and increases social inclusion. Typically, this
service helps those from all aspects of our community who are of
working age including the unemployed, those coming out of addiction,
refugees, and migrants.

Volunteer Program. We run a volunteer program enabling members of
our community to serve the community in which they live. This teaches
life skills and offers training opportunities to the long term unemployed
as well as giving local pensioners, those who are disabled and those not
in work an opportunity to serve the community they live in. Our
volunteers help run all our activities, thereby enabling our objective.
Essential Furniture & Swap Shop

We run a ‘not for profit’ community enterprise that collects, donates and
redistributes recycled furniture.

The essential furniture and swap shop enables people who are in
situations of great need such as refugees, victims of domestic violence,
families on low incomes and many others to receive essential items of
furniture. We have a referral system enabling us to donate to people in
need. We also encourage those in need to alleviate their poverty by
giving volunteer hours or swapping something not essential for them for
something they consider essential. This profoundly breaks cycles of
deprivation, providingessential house hold furniture,reducingdebt

while creating a sense of personal contribution, investment, and self-
worth.
Elderly Club

Our elderly group meet weekly to build relationships, overcome isolation
and improve life quality physically and mentally. We provide a varied
weekly programme of activities and provide transport for those who
struggle to walk. We have provided 4-day trips, provided 2-course meals
on a Friday lunch and given out up to 60 seasonal food parcels. We have
also begun to offer to take meals and support those too ill to come out.
Children & Youth Groups

Since covid-19 we have had to restructure the children and youth work
to smaller group activity. Primarily for those between 7 – 16 years of age.
Small groups meet weekly with varied programmes on offer for junior
and senior groups, including: cooking and hygiene training, trips to the
countryside, games, art, craft, music, sports, dance, drama, education
support.

We train some of our young people to become volunteers and help lead
the groups when they reach the age of 16 years.

Our aim is to continue to teach our children and young people good
citizenship by serving their community through acts of kindness i.e.
helping in the community allotment, helping at the Elderly people’s club
etc.

Throughout the school holiday month of August, we run 3 activities every
day, Monday to Friday, including lunch.
Summer Family Fun Night

For 10 weeks during the summer months, we gathered between 80 – 250
people together every week for a family fun night. The activity
transforms a crime hotspot into a safe controlled environment. We run
sports activities for all the family, showcasing local musical artists and
providing food. This enables people from different ethnic backgrounds to
work together as they volunteer to run the events. It enables social
inclusion, reduces crime, and improves the conditions of the
neighbourhood.
Community Events

The only events we did during this year was a full day of Christmas
extravaganza were children and families could visit Santa and obtain lots
of stocking fillers and presents at extremely low cost. This is a fundraising
event to raise funds to purchase some Christmas goodies for up to 60
elderly residents in our community.
Community Garden

The Community Garden and Seed to Supper project serves to break food
poverty and encourage healthy eating while teaching new skills. It
provides a space for community vegetable growing for children, young
people, adults from different backgrounds and the elderly reducing food
poverty, teaching citizenship skills and social inclusion. The community
garden ran some children’s activities throughout the summer school
holidays.

Achievement and Performance

Achievement and Performance Achievement and Performance Achievement and Performance
Summary of the main
achievements of the
charity during the year.
The charity has continued to provide services and activities which help the
residents in the estates of north Hull. Every week the charity has worked with
children and young people, the elderly, families living in poverty, the long term
unemployed, asylum seekers and refugees, homeless people, ex-offenders and
those struggling with drug problems and mental health issues.
This has been achieved through several highly effective activities. Children and
young people have met more sporadically in smaller groups. We have run an
increasingly popular over 60’s club helping and assisting over 50 people, we run a
drop in café, community kitchen employment training alongside the furniture
and a swap shop enterprise for people in hardship. The ‘seed to supper’ program
is going well. We continue to harvest the food from the garden and is used by
people within the community.
Our most popular event this year was our family fun night. This was carried out
over 10 weeks of the summer and gathered between 80 - 250 people per week.
The event enabled our community to gather reducing isolation and
discrimination. During the event we ran sports programs, singing performances
and creative art sessions, we had a BBQ and bouncy castles. The family fun night
has been held in a park notorious for crime. The event has seen a reduction in
crime through these diversionary activities.
Continuing through some covid-19 concerns we continue to assess how we can
best serve our community during this difficult period. The food larder is now
open 3 days a week with a delivery service of food parcels to those who are self-
isolatingor shielding.

Independent examiner's statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.
