Aim & Purpose

New Life Revival Church-Liverpool (NLRC) is situated in Lorenzo Drive, in the Norris Green area of the city of Liverpool and provides support and spiritual wellbeing of the community for a diverse mix of ages and ethnicity that reflects the changing nature of Norris Green and local area.

Objectives and activities

NLRC is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to support our local community. NLRC church services and worship are continually reviewed with the view that the many groups that live within our area can participate. Our services and worship based on biblical principles put faith into practice through prayer, scripture, and music.

When planning our activities for the year NLRC have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit and the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular enabling ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our community through:

The main NLRC Liverpool building in Lorenzo drive Norris Green is used for meetings as well as online via Youtube for the members. The repairs and maintenance of the building was kept up during the 2023 year and a works building maintenance log has been retained with priority works assigned.

Achievements and Performance

Worship and Prayer

NLRC continued throughout the 2023 year with several services and activities each week. Meeting on Sundays were in live format in location at Lorenzo Drive and online via YouTube. Mid-week meetings were in the location.

The average weekly attendance was slightly increased as new families and people attended as some members preferred to attend online, to approximately 70 for Sunday Worship meetings in the building and with approximately 8-10 families represented online.

Trustees’ Annual Report

Our services and meetings included the following during the year:

Youth Work – Fusion

Fusion is our youth ministry, which caters for young people from 11 to 18 years of age. We usually meet on Sunday mornings and some Friday evenings. We have about 15 young people attending the group regularly. We seek to bring to life an active faith in Jesus and his teaching for life. Sundays often focuses on important issues for young people e.g. Overcoming anxiety, relationships an understanding who I am. While Fridays is more focused on social activities, fun, food and games. Both times give opportunity for young people to speak to us about anything they find challenging or need help with.

We also continue to focus on activities that bring us together and get the group to know each other better. Activities include things like ice skating, laser tag etc. This has been beneficial as friendships have been made and barriers broken down.

Ignite - Kids Church

Our Kids Church ministry “Ignite” focusses on children between the ages of 3 and 10. We meet on Sunday mornings when our adult meeting is running. We seek to teach the children about the Christian faith. We do this through activities, presentations, videos, object lessons and games. Numbers are increasing as more families from the neighborhood are added to the church. The number of children each week was ranges from 15 to 24. We are presently recruiting more team members to cope with the increased volume of children. Ignite Fun Day

This year we introduced our Ignite Fun Days. This is a day during the school holidays, when our children can get together to have some fun and focus on a topic, for example God’s Love. We play games, do craft activities, eat together and generally have a good time.

Buzz Tots – Toddler Group

Our successful Buzz Tots toddler group caters for 0-4 year olds. The group runs twice per week; Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The group provides young parents and grandparents a place to bring their young children, where they can play safely in a relaxed atmosphere. We currently have of the order of between 12 and 20 children at each session. At each session we provide a wide variety of toys to play with. Children also enjoy our craft activities, making cards and pictures. We also provide a healthy snack for the children and provide tea and coffee for the parents, a good chance for a chat and provide some support if need be. Our Christmas and summer parties are also very well attended.

As well as helping toddlers relate to each other, Buzz Tots also serves to support new mums by giving them someone to talk to about the challenges of bringing up a child and provides a place to make friends.

Mission and Evangelism

Our free Community BBQ in 2023 was probably the best attended so far with 200+ people in attendance. We provided bouncy castles, ball pools, face painting, crafts, games and food, free of charge to our community.

We also undertook our second free Christmas Grotto for local families. A visit to Santa’s Grotto can often cost families a lot of money and some children do not get this experience as the costs are prohibitive, especially for larger families. The Grotto was a great success with us seeing over 100 children from the local community.

We also liaised with the local Family Hub to help us publicize the event and are looking to maintain this contact to see how we can work together moving forward.

Our partnership with the charity: Houses of Promise (HOPE-UK) (1194658) - mission to support and help the underprivileged children in Kent, Sierra Leone with the establishment of an orphanage in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, with its fair share of civil wars, national disasters, and epidemics, remained important to our vision continued with funding arranged and transferred as part of the decisions of the members (who ring fenced gifts throughout the year) and with Trustee support and decisions for specific building activities. This is scheduled to complete and be opened in August 2024 subject to local country inspections and processes.
