## **NEW LIFE REVIVAL CHURCH TRUST**

# **ANNUAL REPORT AND UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021**

## **New Life Revival Church - (Liverpool) Trustee Annual Report -2021**

## **Aim & Purpose**

New Life Revival Church-Liverpool (NLRC) is situated in Lorenzo Drive, in the Norris Green area of the city and provides support and spiritual wellbeing of the community for a diverse mix of ages and ethnicity that reflects the changing nature of Norris Green and Liverpool.

## **Objectives and activities**

NLRC is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to support our local community. NLRC church services and worship are continually reviewed with the view that the many groups that live within our area can participate. Our services and worship based on biblical principles put faith into practice through prayer, scripture, and music.

When planning our activities for the year NLRC have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit and the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our community through:

- Worship and prayer; learning about the Gospel; and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus.

- Provision of pastoral care for church members and people living in the local community.

- Missionary and outreach work.

During 2021 there was ongoing impact to meetings schedule due to the Covid 19 restrictions and regulations with this period of time being limited to numbers attending in person and therefore we continued to stream meetings via other channels including Zoom & Youtube.

Whilst 2021 was a difficult year in the transition from full lockdown rules to restricted numbers and compliance with other regulations for public meetings and gathering’s we still had to retain the ongoing lease for the building and by default had continue to maintain the fabric of the NLRC Liverpool building in Lorenzo drive Norris Green.

## **Achievements and Performance**

## Worship and Prayer

NLRC continued in January & February with several services and activities during the week online and this has continued into 2021 as a recognised format for the rest of the year. The average weekly attendance is approximately 60 for Sunday Worship meetings in the building and with approximately 15 family’s represented online.

Our services and meetings included the following during the year:

- Mid-week evening meetings – these are more intimate and provide a reflective environment for worship for the congregation. This is online via Zoom

- In our Sunday morning meetings, the worship team is a blend of youth and older members to capture the wide age group. Meetings are both open to the public (with compliance to Covid restrictions and regulations) and online via streaming channels. This provides opportunities to invite friends, family and colleagues to experience church in a different format.

- The first Sunday each month continues to be a family style worship aimed at families with young children. This has proven popular in the previous years.

- On Sunday mornings we also have our Children’s Ministry. “The Children’s Church” ministers to our children aged between 3 and 10 years of age.

- We also provide a creche on Sunday morning to provide a suitable area for toddlers to play.

- Our Youth and Children’s Ministries continues to draw good numbers every week.

## **Achievements & Performance**

## Youth Work – Fusion

The Fusion Youth ministry has been impacted this year by Covid lockdown restrictions, however when restrictions to meet were lifted, we started to get together again.

We have been meeting on Sunday mornings and Friday evenings. We seek to provide an inclusive and safe environment for young people to enjoy each other’s company though fun and social events. We also discuss and teach on a variety of subjects including: the basics of the Christian life, but very conscious of subjects that effect young people. As an example we gave a lot of time to anxiety and mental health issues and continue to do so.

We also organise social events like ice skating, ten pins bowling and dedicated social evenings where we can play pool, badminton, archery and Nintendo games.

## Kids Church

Our Kids Church Ministry was impacted by Covid lockdown restrictions, but as the Church reopened we were able to recommence Kids Church. We hold this ministry during the main service time on Sunday mornings. We currently draw 6-10 kids a week.

In the Kids Church we aim to bring Christian teaching through a mixture of stories, games, crafts and object lessons. Also supporting our children through life’s challenges with encouragement and strategies to help them.

## Buzz Tots – Toddler Group

Like all of our other activities this ministry was effected by Covid restrictions during the year. Our successful Buzz Tots ministry is a toddler group which caters for 0-4 year olds. The ministry runs twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The ministry provides young parents and grandparents a place to bring their little ones, where they can play safely in a relaxed atmosphere. We also seek to stimulate the little ones with some crafts and provide a healthy drink and snack too. We generally have 15 to 20 children at each session. Our Christmas and summer parties are also very well attended.

As well as helping toddlers relate to each other, Buzz Tots also serves to support new mums by giving them someone to talk to about the challenges of bringing up a child and provides a place to make friends.

## Mission and Evangelism

In Sierra Leone, in West Africa, a need was identified to support and help the underprivileged children in Kent, Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, has had a fair share of civil wars, national disasters and epidemics.

A proposal to establish a local New Life Revival Church, with an orphanage (as an opportunity to reach out to the community) is continuing in partnership with NLRC - Wales. In 2021 as part of the ongoing work this started the process for registration as a charity. Whilst this is in progress the activities to support the work continue. This has made slow but steady progress despite operating under the Covid restrictions. This project will greatly benefit both the children and their communities. During 2021 the work slowed based on Covid global restrictions against the plan as travel was restricted with delays to the work schedule realised. However, to ensure some progress the funds were raised to continue the installation of the roof from 2020, secure the external building and complete as much outside work as possible and, complete the plumbing, wiring and external property walls.

This is in line with the church’s vision of fruitfulness and multiplication; a compassionate, concerned people reaching into all areas of society.

## **Financial Review**

NEW LIFE REVIVAL CHURCH TRUST A REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER: 1084441

## **Financial Reports**

During 2021 whilst Covid restrictions were being revised and lockdown were in place NLRCLiverpool used the remaining funds of a discretionary grant (from the TAR report in 2020) which was agreed by trustees to be used to ensure payment of the rent to the landlord whilst the building could not be used.

This money was used exclusively for this purpose and paid off the rent owed to the landlord during the period, a breakdown is included for reference below but is also in the financial reports:

LCC Grant Income 10,000.00 (Received 2020) Rent Jul-20 - Paid Jul'20 -3,200.00 Rent Aug-20 - Paid Oct'20 -3,200.00 Rent Jan-21 – Paid Jan-21 -3200.00 Rent Apr -21 – Paid Apr-21 -400.00 -------------£NIL

The attached financial statements show that the current state of the finances is sound in the opinion of the financial committee.

Funds at the end of the year totalled £74,757 (2020: £54,168) as per our accounts.

The trustees consider that the funds are sufficient to meet the foreseeable ongoing requirements of the charity.
