NEW LIFE REVIVAL CHURCH TRUST ANNUAL REPORT AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2020
New Life Revival Church - (Liverpool) Trustee Annual Report -2020 :
Aim & Purpose
New Life Revival Church-Liverpool (NLRC) is situated in Lorenzo Drive, in the Norris Green area of the city and provides support and spiritual wellbeing of the community for a diverse mix of ages and ethnicity that reflects the changing nature of Norris Green and Liverpool.
Objectives and activities
NLRC is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to support our local community. NLRC church services and worship are continually reviewed with the view that the many groups that live within our area can participate. Our services and worship based on biblical principles put faith into practice through prayer, scripture, and music.
When planning our activities for the year NLRC have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit and the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our community through:
-
e Worship and prayer; learning about the Gospel; and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus.
-
e Provision of pastoral care for church members and people living in the local community.
-
e Missionary and outreach work.
During 2020 there was significant changes to meetings schedule due to the Covid 19 restrictions and closures with period of time when all meetings and gathering within the church building was discontinued to comply with the legal restrictions on meetings & worship. In place of meeting in the building the church changed to online meetings via Webex & Zoom
Whilst 2020 was a difficult year for public meetings and gathering’s we still had to retain the ongoing lease for the building and by default had continue to maintain the fabric of the NLRC Liverpool building in Lorenzo drive Norris Green.
Achievements and Performance
Worship and Prayer
NLRC offered in January & February several services and activities during the week and switched these to online for the rest of the year once lock-down was instigated. The average weekly attendance is approximately 70 for Sunday Worship meetings in | the building and with approximately 26 family’s represented online during the Covid restrictions period.
Our services and meetings included the following during the year:
Pre-Covid lockdown
-
e Mid-week evening meetings — these are more intimate and provide a reflective environment for worship for the congregation. This is open to the local community
-
e In our Sunday morning meetings, the worship team is a blend of youth and older members to capture the wide age group. Meetings are open to the public and provide opportunities to invite friends, family and colleagues to experience church in a different format.
-
e The first Sunday each month continues to be a family style worship aimed at families with young children. This has proven popular in the past year.
-
e On Sunday mornings we also have our Children’s Ministry. “The Children’s Church” ministers to our children aged between 3 and 10 years of age.
-
e Wealso provide a creche on Sunday morning to provide a suitable area for toddlers to play.
-
e Our Youth and Children’s Ministries continues to draw good numbers every week.
Covid lockdown
-
e Mid-week online evening meetings — these online meetings were scheduled via Zoom and meeting details published to the congregation to join and attend.
-
e In our Sunday morning meetings, these moved to online Zoom format with detailed published to the congregation to join and attend.
Youth Work — Fusion
The Fusion Youth Ministry was operating pre-covid but was put on hold after the restrictions were applied and has not been able to continue.
Kids Church
Our Kids Church Ministry has been running successfully for many years and continued up to the point of Covid restrictions. It has not continued for the rest of 2020 as the meetings moved to online attendance.
BuzzToddlerOur successfulTots — Buzz GroupTots ministry is a toddler group which caters for 0-4 year olds. The ministry ran 3 times per week with Tuesday morning and Thursday morning and afternoon sessions before lockdown. The ministry provides young parents and grandparents a place to bring their little ones, where they can play safely in a relaxed atmosphere. We generally have 15 to 20 children at each session, although we have sometimes had 28 children at certain times of year. Once lockdown occurred this was put on hold and did not continue for the rest of 2020.
Mission and Evangelism
In a trip to Sierra Leone, in West Africa, a need was identified to support and help the underprivileged children in Kent, Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, has had a fair share of civil wars, national disasters and epidemics.
A proposal to establish a local New Life Revival Church, with an orphanage (as an opportunity to reach out to the community) is underway. This has made slow but
|
steady progress. This project will greatly benefit both the children and_ their communities. During 2020 the work slowed to a standstill, following global Covid restrictions in place. Travel was restricted with delays to the work schedule realised. However, in an effort to create some progress, the some funds were raised to install the roof of the orphanage and secure the building.
This is in line with the church’s vision of fruitfulness and multiplication; a compassionate, concerned people reaching into all areas of society.
Safeguarding training
At the Trustees meeting held on 8th September 2019 the Trustees agreed to host a Safeguarding training event provided by 318 (the organisation the church is affiliated to regarding safeguarding) at a cost of £495. This was arranged as part of our legal obligation for the Trustees and team members who have responsibility for the children’s and youth work. Additionally it was agreed that this would be open to delegates from other churches and organisations to allow use of the building and facilities in support of Safeguarding training in Liverpool and the North West. The training event was subsequently booked and took place on Saturday 15th February 2020.
Financial Review
NEW LIFE REVIVAL CHURCH TRUST A REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER: 1084441
Financial Reports
During 2020 whilst Covid restrictions and lockdown were in place NLRC- Liverpool was in receipt of a discretionary grant for the sum of £10,000 which was agreed by trustees to be used to ensure payment of the rent to the landlord whilst the building could not be used. This money was used exclusively for this purpose and paid off the rent owed to the landlord during the period, a breakdown is included for reference below but is also in the financial reports:
The discretionary grant of £10,000.00 was not fully utilised in 2020. There was a crossover to the next year 2021 and the planned decision to use this for rent still applies as Covid restrictions are in place.
LCC Grant Income ftecetved) 10,000.00 Rent Jul-20 - Paid Jul'20 -3,200.00 Rent Aug-20 - Paid Oct'20 -3,200.00 £3600.00

The attached financial statements show that the current state of the finances is sound in the opinion of the financial committee.
Funds at the end of the year totalled £54,168.
The trustees consider that the funds are sufficient to meet the foreseeable ongoing requirements of the charity.
