Charity Number: 1084101 Annual Report: September 2024- August 2025 God our Saviour, Who desires all people to be saved The Schools’ work The expansion of Reach in schools in the Reading area has continued as more schools have opened their doors to us. We have been able to provide RE lessons, workshops and Christian Union discussion groups (with other faiths invited). This academic year Reach has been able to work in RE lessons in 6 Secondary Schools (3 of these were new this year) involving 630 pupils. Lessons on ‘the Bible’ and ‘Sin and the Cross’ and an ‘Easter’ lesson’ for Y7 were new for this year. Also, our Ministry Director sat on a multi-faith panel for Y10’s. ‘Sex Education’ lessons in 1 school were attended by 360 pupils and, new for this year, we started a ‘Relations and Sex Education’ series including ‘Periods and Puberty’(Y7) and ‘Becoming a Parent ‘(Y10). These are now a part of the National Curriculum so our staff were provided with the necessary training. The students found the lessons to be very relevant and helpful. Year 6 workshops to share the message of Christmas and Easter and summer term workshops to focus on Secondary School transition were attended by 600 pupils from 12 Primary schools (5 were new this year) and Reach ran 8 C.U.’s over the year with approximately 87 regular attendees. One focus our staff have aimed for has been to encourage student C.U. leaders, so we ran 2 training events over the year, involving 10 Y10-12 students. We have continued mentoring sessions and this has proved to be very important for the well being of some of the students. Also’Pitstops’ (coffee and cake for the staff) in 9 schools has been a way of encouraging and showing our appreciation to hundreds of staff. We thank God that we have approximately 100 volunteers to help us with all the different things Reach does. Partnerships We are so pleased to continue being mission partners with Scripture Union. They have been invaluable in providing advice and resources, as well as training for our staff. They also provide our safeguarding support and DBS checks. We are working alongside a number of churches which provide us with volunteers, prayer and finance for which we are very thankful. We are also thankful to the many individuals who also provide this support. This year we have worked with ‘Good News for Everyone’ in RE and Y6 workshops. They have been most generous and handed out 44 Bibles in the various activities, at no charge. Public Benefit Mentoring is a part of our pastoral care for students, as are the lessons on Relationships and Sex Education. We aim to help each pupil to manage his or her life and to prepare each one for the challenges of adulthood. We continue to support schools by bringing the love of Jesus to students and staff and offering the opportunity to learn more about the Christian faith, and explore it for themselves. Reach aims to give each pupil a clearer understanding of the Bible and of the people mentioned in it. Developments in 2025/2026 - The appointment of a third worker to join the staff team - Getting more churches involved in partnership with Reach - Increasing the number of C.U.s in schools - Increasing number of RE lessons taught by Reach in schools - Productive relationships with staff and SLT’s Feedback Just a quick email to say thank you so much for the Its Your Move session yesterday. The children were talking about it all day and really enjoyed the activities - Year 6 teacher Birch Copse Mentoring is fantastic for our younger year groups who need someone to talk to who isn’t a teacher… Sarah is a brilliant leader who brings a sense of positivity - Head of 6th form JMA I just wanted to pass on some lovely comments from some parents…they were delighted that the Christian Union group were up and running…E was very pleased to call herself a junior leader - Head of History and Religion and Philosophy - Maiden Erlegh (Chiltern Edge) You were so sensitive and so kind to the girls and adapted the lesson for the lower ability group so well - RE teacher RGS Really informative and explained things well. Incoming resources with related expenditure are reported gross. Incoming resources from tax reclaims are included at the same time as the gift to which they relate. ## 2.2 Expenditure and Liabilities Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to pay out resources.
