Introduction. It is a privilege to present the **llllll** HERSHAM YOUTH TRUST **Impact Report 2021** . In a year of turbulence, uncertainty and challenge our community registered charity has led the way in driving positive outcomes for young people right across our local community Coronavirus. and delivered possibly the greatest impact in our twenty-year history. Our Teams. This report celebrates all of the positive youth work that our charity has achieved in empowering, enabling and supporting all our local community’s young people. With the difference we are making and impacting locally it is evident our vital, much valued and Our Impact. attended youth services is a direct response to what young people inform us they need. Our charity will continue to be led by our community’s young people. We have set out Annual Accounts. ambitious plans for the next five years based on what we have heard to support our long-term sustainability. Looking Forward. This would not be possible without the organisations, partners and community’s working with and supporting our charity. The **llllll** HERSHAM YOUTH TRUST, our community youth led registered charity supports all young people aged between eleven to twenty-five. Our accurately recorded attendance figures for **2021** positively engaged over **2,400 youth attendances** in targeted covid compliant open access youth support work alone. This was achieved from opening throughout the summer holidays, half terms and various ongoing specialist targeted youth led projects. Weekly the main key activities, experiences and opportunities on offer to all our communities’ young people are:

We have audited the financial statements of the **Hersham Youth Trust Registered Charity No: 1084090** for the year ended 31 July 2021 which comprise of the **Statement of Financial Activities** , the **Balance Sheet** and the related notes. The financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation is applicable law and the requirements of the **Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities** . _[Effective April 2008.]_ 

This report is made exclusively to the members, as a body, in accordance with **Chapter 3** of **Part 16** of the **Companies Act 2006** and to the charity’s trustees, as a body, in accordance with **Section 44 [1] [C]** of the **Charities and Trustee Investment [Scotland] Act 2005** and **Regulation 10** of the **Charities Accounts [Scotland] Regulations 2006** . Our audit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the members and the charity’s trustees those matters we are required to state to them in an auditor’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity, its members as a body and its trustees as a body, for our audit work, for this report, or for the opinions we have formed.

As explained more fully in the **Statement of Directors’ Responsibilities** set out on page six, the trustees _[who are also the directors of the charitable company for the purposes of company law]_ are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view.

Our responsibility is to audit and express an opinion on the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and **International Standards on Auditing [UK and Ireland]** . Those standards require us to comply with the **Auditing Practices Board’s [APB’s] Ethical Standards for Auditors** . 

## **Scope of the Audit of the Financial Statements:** 

An audit involves obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements sufficient to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether caused by fraud or error. This includes an assessment of whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charitable company’s circumstances and have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by the trustees; and the overall presentation of the financial statements. In addition, we read all the financial and non-financial information in the **Annual Report** to identify material inconsistencies with the audited financial statements. If we become aware of any apparent material misstatements or inconsistencies we consider the implications for our report. 

## **Opinion on Financial Statements:** 

In our opinion the financial statements: 

- ❍ give a true and fair view of the state of the charitable company’s affairs as at 31 July 2021, and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including its income and expenditure, for the year then ended; 

- ❍ have been properly prepared in accordance with **United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice** _[applicable to smaller entities]_ ; and 

- ❍ have been prepared in accordance with the **Companies Act 2006** , the **Charities and Trustee Investment [Scotland] Act 2005** and **Regulation 8** of the **Charities Accounts [Scotland] Regulations 2006** .

## **Matters on Which we are Required to Report by Exception:** 

We have nothing to report in respect of the following matters where the **Companies Act 2006** and the **Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006** _[as amended]_ requires us to report to you if, in our opinion:

## **Accounting Policies [1]:** 

## Basis of Preparation: 

The accounts are prepared under the historical cost convention and are in accordance with companies legislation, the **Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities** _[Effective April 2008]_ and with **Statement of Recommended Practice - Accounting & Reporting by Charities** . _[Revised 2005]_ 

## Fixed Assets & Depreciation: 

Tangible fixed assets are capitalised at cost and are depreciated by the straight line method over their anticipated useful lives at the following annual rates: 

- ❍ Furniture & equipment 25% 

The trusts premises are not depreciated on the basis that any depreciation would not be material. 

## Revenue Recognition: 

Grants received to fund revenue expenditure are credited to the **Income & Expenditure Account** in the period to which they relate. Grants received, which relate to future years are deferred until the appropriate years. Grants received to fund capital expenditure are treated as restricted funds, and depreciation on the related assets is subsequently charged against the fund over the anticipated lives of the assets. 

## VAT: 

The Hersham Youth Trust is not registered for VAT and accordingly expenditure includes VAT where appropriate. 

## Liabilities: 

Liabilities are recognised on the basis of goods or services invoiced to the charity within the financial year. Invoices relating to the financial year which are received or paid after that date are accrued. 

## Expenditure: 

Where possible expenditure has been charged direct to charitable activities and governance costs.

## Funds: 

Funds held by the charity are: 

- ❍ Unrestricted Funds: These are the funds that can be used in accordance with the charitable objects at the discretion of the directors. 

- ❍ Restricted Funds: These are funds that can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or if they have been raised for a specific purpose. 

## **Incoming Resources [2]:** 

Grant, donation and other income recorded for the year has been credited to unrestricted funds on the basis that the amounts are available for use in accordance with the charitable objects at the discretion of the directors. 

## **Net Incoming Resources [3]:** 

No depreciation or director’s remuneration has been incurred in the year to 31 July 2021. 

## Accounting Services: 

The treasurer received no honorarium for accounting services. No other trustee or persons connected with them received remuneration or reimbursement for expenses incurred during the year. 

## Taxation: 

The Inland Revenue has confirmed that the company has charitable status. It has no liability to UK corporation tax on the activities of the year. 

## Movement of Funds: 

There were no transfers between funds in the year. 

## Non Audit Services: 

In common with other trusts of our size and nature we use our auditors in the preparation of the **statutory financial statements** .
