The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial stslemenls of East Kent Education Business
Partnership Limited. trading as EBP Kent, for the year from 1 January 2023 10 31 December 2023.
Since the charitable company qualifies as small under section 383, the strategic report required of medium and
large companies under The Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Direclorfs Report) Regulations 2013 is
not required.
Objectives and Activities
a. Policles and oblectlves
The Company was constituted as a company limited by guarantee in March 1992, and a registered Charity in
August 1996 and is therefore governed by a memorandum and articles of association.
The Company's objective and ils principal activity is to advance the education and training of young people and
adults in Kent with particular ￿gard to the development of commercial and business skills empowering theni to be
better prepared for the workplace and to become active economic citizens.
The Company is organised with the directors meeting regularly to manage its affairs.
Achlevements and perforniance
b. Review of activitles
This year saw a continued increase in requests for services. Through a wide range of volunleer-based activities
EBPKenl provides a vital link between education and the world of work. Bringing communities together. we're
helping businesses to give back maximising their professional lime. In turn enabling 5¢hools to aC￿lerate outcomes
towards the right progression for each individual young person recognising the vast range of skills acquisition in
every workfor￿.

Projects (Primary and Secondary)
Wod( Experience continues to be in great demand, especially a return lo a traditional experience of work for key
stage four and five students. There has been 'Whole Trust Commission, so that all schools are assured of qualty
servi￿. There is also high demand for extended opportltnities for some students who need a more phased
approach to work experience. The decision has been made to grow the Virtual Work Experience platform to be able
to offer a hybrid approach when needed for both SEN students and those wanting access to areas traditionally
unavailable.
Work Experience has continued to undergo Some systemi¢ improvements this year to further increase efficiency.

Review of activities {continuedl
Careers Guidance service has seen an increase in contracts as schools have made individual impartial guidance
priority for all Key Stage 4 students and have increased the amount of work for Key Stage 3 young people. The
prtsfessionally qualified guidance team provide one-lo-one guidance for young people across Kent from Key Stage
3 to Key Stage 5. The focus is impart181ity, conneclivily to other departments (Work Experience, Careers Fairs,
Employability Events). Each school has a unique profile knowing best how to support their students.
Engagement of employers has been key lo all aspects of the output this year and many have given exceptional
service lo the young people of Kent. The offer of Work Experience Placements, of highly interactive Exhibition
Stands. of interviewing skills or sector specialist workshops all have been signifi¢ant contributions to a mosaic of
support across all age groups and across all areas of Kent.
Overall, the Charity ttas continued lo serve a wide number of Kent schools acmss a range of actr'vilies supporting
the development ol employability skills, supporting informed progression of choiTr, and supporting engagement
with employers. By educating young people on our region's growth sectors, we have been helping lo develop the
talent pipeline for the future. This year, we've been particularly successful at Connecting young people with
professionals and organisalions both traditional and in Kent'5 growth se¢lors. We share the knowledge that skills
growth begins long before the age of training and acquiring professional vocational skills.
b. Going concern
After making appropriate enquiries, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charitable company
has adequate resources lo continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason they
continue lo adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financi81 stslemenls. Further detsils regarding
the adoption of the going concern basis can be found in the Accounting Policies.
¢. Reserves poli¢y
The Trustee's policy was to hold unrestricted funds of £SO,000. We are aiming to incfease current
reserves over the next 2-3 years.

The charitable company is registered as a charitable company limited by guarantee and was consliluled under a
ChaTity Commission Scheme on 2 August 1996 and be¢ame a registered charity on 13 November 2000, number

b. Method of appointment or election of Trustees
The management of the charitable eompany is the responsibility of the Trnstees who are elected and co-opted
under the terms of the Charity Commission Scheme.
Organisational Structure and decislon making
The company'5 Steering Group that includes the Trustees, meet regularly to manage its affairs. The chaTltable
company has contracted Mrs. A McNulty as Director of the charity together with an operational team for the day
to day running of the charitable company. The operational team comprised of three full time staff and seven part
time staff covering administration and specific projects.

directors has guaranteed £1 in the event that the Company is wound up.
Plans for future periods
a. Future developments
The charitable company will continue lo grow, working with schools across the county lo develop programmes
suitsble for young people, supported by employers, aiding successful progression The Charity aims to broker
high quality engagement and experiences for all students. Whilst some programmes might reach
smaller numbers the aim would be for all young people lo have appropiiale activities over the course of
the academic year, in many cases four or five times during the year - Work Experience, Professional
Guidance, Sector specialist proje¢l, Careers Exhibition, interactive workshops to name bul a few of the
possible engagements. The ongoing development and management of the Virtual Careers Platform will
form a key component for the delivery of the charity's service for young people in Kent.
Innovation and change remains core lo the work of EBP Kent, each year a minimum of three new
kinds of work are developed to increase the range and form of employer engagement with schools.

I report on the financial stalemenlsof the charitable company for the year ended 31 December 2023 which aTe
sel out on pages 10 10 18.
This report is made solely to the charitable company's Trustees, as a body, in ar£ordan¢e with section 145 of the
Charities Act 2011 and regulation5 made under section 154 of that Act. My work has been undertaken so that I
might slate to the charitable company's Trustees those matters l am required to stale to them in an Independent
examinerfs report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law. I do not accept or as5urne
responsibility to anyone other than the charitable company and the charitable company's Trustees as a body, for
my work or for this report.
The financial staternents have been prepared in accordance with Aceounting and Reporting by Charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Repott'ng Standards applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities. Statement of
Recommended Practice issued on 1 April 2005 which is referred to in the extant regulatsons but has been
withdmwn.
This has been done in order for the accoLtnts to provide a true and fair view in a¢cordance with the Generally
Accepted Accounting Practice effective for reptsrting periods beginning on the after 1 January 2015

The Trustees, who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law, are responsible for
the preparation of the financial stalemenls. The Trustees consider that an audit is not iequired for this year
under section 144121 of the Charitie5 Act 2011 (the Aell and that an independent examinatson is needed. The
charitable company's gross income exceeded £250,000 and l am qualified to undertake the examination by
being a qualified member of the Institute of Chartered Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Having satisfied myself that the charitable company is not subject to audit under charity or company law and is
eligible for independent examination. it is my responsibility to..

follow the procedures laid down in the general Direetions given by the Charity Commission under section

1.1 B a s I s of preparation of financial statements
The financial statements have been prepared in ac￿rdanCe with Accounting and Reporting by
Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts
in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January 20151- (Charities SORP IFRS 102}I, the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Companies
Act 2006
East Kent Educats'on Business Partnership Limited trading as EBP Kent meets the definition of
a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initfally recognised at historical
cost or transaction value unless otherwise slated in the relevant accountr'ng policy.
1.2 R e c o n c I I l at l o n wlth prevlous Generally Accepted Accounting Practice
In preparing these accounts, the Trustees have considered whether in applying the accounting
policies required by FRS 102 and the Charities SORP FRS 102 the restatement of
comparative items was required.
No restatements were required.
1.3Company status
The charitable company is a company limited by guarantee. The members of the company are
the Trustees named on page 1. In the event of the charitable company being wound up, the
liability in respect of the guarantee is limited lo £1 per member of the charitable company.
1.4 F u n d accounting
General funds are unreslricled funds which are available for use al the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the geneTal objectives of the charitable company and which have not been
designated for other purposes.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be uged in accordance with specific restrictions imposed
by donors or which have been raised by the charitable company for particular purposes. The
costs of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specifK fund. The aim and
use of each restricted fund is sel out in the notes lo the financial statements.
1.Slncome
All income is recognised once the charitable company has entillemenl to the Income, il is
probable that the income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured
reliably.
1.6Expenditur•
Expenditure is re¢ognised once the￿ is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer
economic benefit lo a third paty, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be
required in settlement and the any)unt of the obligation can be measured reliabty.
Charitable activities are costs inCu￿ed on the charitable company's operations, including
support costs and costs relating lo the governance of the charitable company apportioned lo
charitable activities.

Interest on fvnds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured

income and expenditure account on a slraighl line basis over the lease term.
1.11 Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised al the settlement amount after any trade discount offered.
Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid net of any trade discounts due.
1.12 Cash at Bank and in hand
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short tem) highly liquid investments wf(h 8 short
maturity of three months or less from the dale of acquisitson or opening of the deposit or similar
account.
1.13 Llabllitles and provlslons
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation at the Balance sheet date as a resLJII of a past
event, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefrt will be required in settlement, and the amount
of the settlement can be eslimaled reliably. Liabilities are recognised al the amount that the charitable
Company anticipates il will pay to settle the debt or the aniounl it has received as advanced payments
for the goods or services il musl provide. Provisions are measured al the best estimate of the amounts
required to settle the obligation. Where the effect of the time value of money is material, the provision
is based on the present value of those amounts, discounted at the pre-tax discount rale that refle¢ls
the risks specific to the liability. The unwinding of the discount Is fecognised within interest payable
and 5irnilar charges.

1.14 Financial instruments
The charitable company only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as
basic financial inslrumenls. Basic financial in5trumenls are initially recognised at transaction value
and subsequently measured at their settlementvalue with the exception of bank loans which are
subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
