STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing Document
The trust was created on 1 March 1999 and governed by the Trust Deed of the charity. A Supplemental Deed was made on 25 January 2009 amending the charity’s objectives.
Management
The trustees named on page 1 have served throughout the year. All trustees form part of the Management. The Board of trustees is authorised to appoint new trustees to fill vacancies arising through disqualification, resignation or death of an existing trustee.
Trustee induction and training
All trustees are familiar with the work of the charity. The existing trustees brief all new trustees. Considering the nature of the charity, it is considered not necessary to attend any training courses but relevant guidance from the Charity Commission’s website is given to all trustees.
Risk Management
The trustees continually review any major financial risk the charity may face and believe that maintaining reserves at current levels, and the controls over the financial systems, will provide sufficient resources in the event of any adverse conditions.
Objectives and Activities
The principal objectives of the charity are as follows:

To relieve the hardship, distress and suffering of disadvantaged people, including Tamils in Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka and other areas affected as a result of conflicts and disasters.

To advance the education and training of children, including Tamil children in the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka and other areas, by providing support through purchasing materials for agriculture, industry and schooling.
The aims of the policy continue to seek finance to promote the charity’s objectives.
Activities and Achievements
The charity’s performance for this year was considered to be satisfactory by the trustees.
The Trust supports the activities of the following organisations:

Arobanam Boys Home (Kilinochchi) Destitute Welfare Fund (Mannar) Association To Empower The Special Needs Children (ASSETS)-India Good Shepherd Welcome House (Anaikoddai) Good Shepherd Child Development Centre (Mankulam) Sivapoomi Trust (Kondavil) Sai Arobanam (Nuwara Eliya) Mathotta Hindu Peoples Association Child Development Initiative (Vavuniya) Mankulam Foster Care
The trust is sponsoring over 400 children in Sri Lanka and Southern India.
Financial Review
The trustees are satisfied with the financial performance for the year ending 31 December 2025.
Principal funding sources
Main sources of funding for the trust are sponsorship, fund raising events and donations.
Reserve policy
It is the policy of the charity to limit the unrestricted funds to £500 throughout the year.
Future development
The trust is always looking to increase it’s funding by attracting new sponsors and holding fundraising events.
Trustees’ Responsibilities
The trustees are required, under the Charities Act 1993, to prepare yearly financial statements, which reflects a true and fair view of the charity’s financial affairs. The requirements of the trustees are:

Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently.

Make prudent and reasonable judgements and estimates.

State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of accounting practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.

Prepare financial statements on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are also responsible for keeping proper financial records, which reflects with reasonable accuracy at any time, the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with applicable law and regulations. They are also the guardians of the assets of the charity and should take reasonable to steps to prevent fraud and other irregularities.
