Gove r ning D ocument
The t rust was c reated on 1 March 1999 and governed by the T rust Deed of the charity. A Supplemental Deed was made on 25 January 2009 amending the charity’s objectives.
M anagement
The t rustees named on page 1 have served throughout the year. All t rustees form part of the Management. The Board of t rustees a re authorised to appoint new t rustees to fll vacancies a rising through disqualifcation, resignation o r death of an existing trustee.
T r ustee in d uction an d r t aining
All t rustees a re familiar with the work of the charity. The existing t rustees b rief all new trustees. Considering the nature of the charity, it is considered not necessary to attend any t raining courses but relevant guidance f rom the Charity Commission’s website is given to all t rustees.
R isk M anagement
The t rustees continually review any major fnancial risk the charity may face and believe that maintaining reserves at current levels, and the controls over the fnancial systems, will p rovide sufcient resources in the event of any a dverse conditions.
Objectives an d Activities

The p rincipal objectives of the charity a re as follows: 1. To relieve the hardship, distress and sufering of disadvantaged people, including Tamils in Northern and Eastern P rovinces of S r i Lanka and other ra eas afected as a result of conficts and disasters.

- To a dvance the e ducation and rt aining of children, including Tamil children in the Northern and Eastern P rovinces of S r i Lanka and other ra eas, by p roviding support through purchasing materials for agriculture, industry and schooling. The aims of the policy continue to seek fnance to p romote the charity’s

objectives.
Activities an d Achievements
The charity’s performance for this year was considered to be satisfactory by the trustees.

R ese r ve policy
It is the policy of the charity to limit the unrestricted funds to £500 throughout the year.
Futu r e d evelopment
The t rust is always looking to increase it’s funding by attracting new sponsors an holding fundraising events.
T r ustees’ R esponsibilities
The t rustees a re required, under the Charities Act 1993, to p repare yearly fnancial statements, which refects a t rue and fair view of the charity’s fnancial afairs. The requirements of the t rustees a re:

Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently. 2. Make p rudent and reasonable judgements and estimates. 3. State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of accounting practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the fnancial statements.

Prepare fnancial statements on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to p resume that the charity will continue in operation.
The t rustees a re also responsible for keeping p roper fnancial records, which refects with reasonable accuracy at any time, the fnancial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the fnancial statements comply with applicable law and regulations. They a re also the guardians of the assets of the charity and should take reasonable to steps to p revent f raud and other irregularities.
